Try Chris Murphy at the museum – I understand they do tours of the base on occasion.
Any leads on any P-51D parts greatly appreciated.
Also don’t forget the Friends of the Eighth meeting this Saturday – museum opens at 2pm, meeting starts at 4pm. Will include the premier of many previously unseen 361st FG P-47 and p-51 photos.
Cheers
Andy,
Haven’t forgotten but have been bogged down with the P-51, work etc. Will perhaps aim for something in autumn – will be in touch.
Cheers

Well done Tony for sorting this – it was a great pleasure to play a small part in this.

Hi Jack,
No-one could describe you as ignorant.:o
1. I think they are Spit Vc’s
2. 90 gallon slipper tank I think – fixed
3. Not sure if they were easy mod but I think performance was significantly affected.
4. Not sure about prop.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.
Cheers
Jason
You wouldn’t happen to have a spare canopy or seat back by any chance.
We are restoring a Linkie and are missing these items.
Cheers
Sorry
Sorry didn’t spot it.
Am due at the Ridgewell museum next week as we are doing a trade – can grab something then if this isn’t too far ahead?
Can you PM your details.
Cheers
J
If this a problem then there is a vendor on ebay – who regularly lists items he finds at Ridgewell – see for example:-
but I would imagine concrete lumps wouldn’t be a problem and plenty to choose from at Ridgwell – also an active facebook group going regarding Ridgewell – see
Tony,
I can help – am about 15 minutes from Ridgewell.
Cheers
Jason
Thanks Elliot – will try WIX.
Also thanks Hindenburg for ruling out Stirling.
If not Stirling any ideas???
Westpac
Westpac restorations might be a good place to start – have done a number of P-38 restorations and have got quite a few good photos on their site.
For Wondy – Mary Mine back in 1944/5
There are rumours that some a/c are at Greenham Common.
I am particularly interested in the P-51 ‘Mary Mine’ which is a 8th AF combat veteran and the sole remaining original survivor of the 361st Fighter Group.
Some say it is in a container at Greenham Common other says its in Florida. Owned by Baron Corp which I think is a front for Dave Arnold.
