Very nice pictures! Home sweet home! 🙂
I live here in Newcastle, right on the edge of Leazes park between the centre of town, or TOON! Gorgeous place, lived in Newcastle all my life & a proud Geordie, great city, great people, (We stopped the jocks from spreading into the rest of England don’t you know. GEORDIES!) :diablo: great atmospfere! My girlfriend is from Dubai & she even thinks Newcastle is better than Dubai, I argue with her a little bit about it, but she always wins…..As usual. 😀
Well said that man.
I may now live in Yorkshire, but I’m a Gateshead lad at heart, and it’ll always be a part of me.
If you put them into a slideshow it’ll look like a hazy recollection of a drunken walk home!
Something I did on many an occasion walking back to my parents house after a night out in the Toon on a Friday!!!!!!

Having read the book, First Light interests me, so just in case I miss the timings, can someone keep a heads up on this please?
I saw it too going past J27 at around 18.15 as I was heading east in the car going home.
It is mentioned in his Wikipedia entry, which is very interesting:
I was also fortunate enough to see him at Duxford a few years ago on the same day Muriel Pavlow who played Baders wife in RFTS was there.
He came across as a guy who didn’t realise that he was a hero, merely just another guy who got on with the job in hand.
One of Blighty’s finest.
RIP Sir.:(
Davski.
The memorial garden is on the road between Great Heck and Pollington,at the east end of the airfield, opposite the brick works.
I was actually there last Sunday as well with a friend of mine who hadn’t seen it before, and he was quite moved when we left.
In my opinion,it’s the best one around, unless anyone knows better……

Yes, I’ve been to that museum – and excellent it is too.
A beautiful county and castle and a fascinating museum – to say nothing of Geordie hospitality! Well worth the trip.
Being a Geordie,I’m not biased in anyway shape or form, but do take a trip just a little further down the coast and visit Robsons smokehouse in the small fishing village of Craster, and purchase the kippers direct from the supplier themselves.
Mmm………….:)
For sale on E.Bay……
Interesting collection for sale.
Does anyone have any further information on this gentleman,as it seems to be another great story?
Seen him many times on tv in the various documentary type programmes, and always seemed to come across as a gentleman.
Another one of the few gone forever.:(
Ken.

Hi Yvonne.
What might also be nice along the lines of Lancman’s request,is an insight from the other guys that rarely get a mention, and that is the volunteer guides that entertain the visitors.
Surely they could also regale us with some of the questions that they have been asked over the years, both serious and funny, and what makes them do what they do.
And what about you guys in the office?
It would be nice to know what you guys do behind the scenes,in order to co-ordinate everything and make it run smoothly.
You could even have a new page on the site, something like,”A day in the life of………” and then a random member of the team from within the entire flight describing what they do.
