Hopefully embedded is a reasonably current AGS/AS listing. Unfortunately for the cancelled specifications it only lists the number and not a description or if has been superseded.

The current custodians of the AGS/AS drawings are SAE ITC http://eatsc.saeitc.org/standards/ but how many historic drawings/specifications they have I don’t really know. The people listed in the contact details are very helpful and have tried to resolve some enquiries for me but with no result. But it may still be worth contacting them.

    Hi there,

I’m not sure what the Sec/ref number of these are but the part number is AVW50.

I’ll try and have a look in AP1086 in the next couple of days to see if I can find anything.

Added picture is taken from un-dated Brown Brothers catalogue no 526.

    Plug

    Hi Andy,

I’m not quite sure what socket the plug connects to (maybe a type 135 socket Sec/ref 10H/319???) but AP1086 lists the plug as and SP aerial plug as shown on the picture.

    Hope that helps

    Hi.
I’m looking for 4 no. 4BA anchor nuts, single lug with the single fixing hole. I’m thinking that they might be Simmons type but not sure. If anyone has 4 they would sell me I would be grateful.

    Many thanks

    Hi there,

If you PM me your address I’ll pop 1/2 a dozen in the post for you as per the attached pic. They are a bit Stores soiled but should clean up well. They are Simmonds red fibre insert.

    Hi there,

I have this listed in a 1956 copy of AP1086 Sec 5UE as a controller Type 2 for TKS de-icing pump, unfortunately without an aircraft type in the listing.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

    AS902 chain

    Hopefully this will work!!

There should be a scan of Hunting-Percival Design Data Sheet DB14-01 for Unified and non-Unified chains embedded here! If not follow the link.

    Hunting Percival DB14-01 Chains

AS902 is tabled on the last page which gives pitch at 8mm.

The data is dated 24 Apr 1961, but the scanner can’t get full length page in and has chopped off the leaflet number.

    Hope that helps

Apologies for being a little off topic, and please move if more appropriate elsewhere, but have scanned the following this morning:

1958 dated Ministry of Supply Standardization Design Memorandum SDM(A)36 for stiffnuts; this states stiffnuts used in design of new aircraft, aero-engines, accessories and equipment shall comply with British Standards, these are for unified nuts.

    MoS SDM 36 Stiffnuts

SDM 136, which is dated 1956 gives background for selection of bolts and nuts of aircraft quality. It states that bolts and nuts for use in new design of aircraft, aero-engines and airborne equipment shall be selected from this SDM. The tables in use for this SDM list both Unified and BA/BSF threads, so probably little wonder that there is a mixture of both throughout the 50s,60s and 70s!

MoS SDM 136 Bolts and Nuts

Yes, working on the F27 equipment was fun with the mix of fasteners. I do remember applying the label to the MLG stating that ‘all threads on this unit are unified’, well apart from the BSP fittings on the pipework that is!

Hope the info is of interest.

    Hi Tim,

Unfortunately this section doesn’t have illustrations (I’ve only come across illustrations in Sec 5L and 28), there isn’t even a reference to a part number for the items.

    Regards

    Dave
