It’s info taken from the RAF stores vocabulary (Air Publication 1086). No pictures in Section 33 Unfortunatley.
I would imagine, but have no proof that this type of bottle was used for many years. It’s in the 1957 copy but under a ‘new’ reference number (it doesn’t list when the number was changed).
Sorry to not have any further information for you.

Dave

What p/n are you looking for? Are you sure they’re castellated nuts and not slotted (slotted nuts to BS A27 are slightly thinner than castle nuts p/n A27ES as opposed to A27EC) or are they shear nuts to BS A58
I think I have some A27EC or A27ES but can’t check until Monday evening (I might also have some A58ES available.
Quick guide here: http://www.dsgaviation.co.uk/page4.htm
If you need any further help PM me.

Anchor Nuts
They do look like Simmonds nuts to me, and although I can’t find the Simmonds p/n for them there is a ‘modern’ equivalent in AGS2005.
Unfortunatley the only AGS2005 anchor nuts I have are 2BA.
Attached is a page from Brown Brothers (Aircraft) Ltd Catalogue no 526, and although not dated contains lots of earlier A,AGS and AS specifications.
I think the only reason that they are listed in the Brown Brothers book as ODDIE nuts is that Brown Brothers manufactured the stiffnuts under the ODDIE label (ref Ministry of Supply Standardization Design Memoranda (Air Service) leaflet No.36, with Simmonds being listed in the same leaflet as manufacturing under the NYLOC label).
Hope that helps somewhat, even if I don’t have any!!!

The people at Smiths metal centres are very good to deal with:

Hope that’s of use.

I would go along with Viscount, as the wheel doesn’t look like it’s a Dunlop type and from memory the Viscount was fitted with Goodyear wheels and brake equipment.
Regards
Dave
Info taken from an un-dated Dunlop Aviation Equipment Manual list the following aircraft types with that tyre size:
Gannet Mk1 & 2
Sturgeon TTMk2
VA Type 508 (Scimitar)
VA Type 529 (Scimitar)
Viscount 630
Breguet Vultur
Hope that helps somewhat, although a p/n from the tyre and wheel would help too.

Dave
Hi Scott,
May well be worth asking the question over at the Historic Military Vehicle Forum:
