aaah….if you click on the RC thread:
http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?131564-Some-of-my-recent-builds
you can ‘rate this thread’, however, its the only thread I can rate.
Mods, perhaps it can be switched back on for all of us to abuse?
cheers
Baz
Can’t see that anymore Pete, think it vanished after an update or something.
Found this on FAQ :
Key Publishing Ltd Aviation Forums FAQ
Here you can find answers to questions about how the board works. Use the links or search box below to find your way around.
You may find a small menu on thread pages which allows you to ‘rate this thread’ with a number between 1-5.
Casting a vote for threads you view is entirely optional, but if you think that the thread is superb, you might rate it as a 5-star thread, or if you think that it’s unspeakably dismal, you might choose to rate the thread with a single star.
Once enough votes have been cast for the thread rating, you may see a set of stars appear with the title of the thread in the thread listings. These stars reflect the average vote cast, and can allow you to quickly see which threads are worth reading if you are on a very busy forum with a lot of threads.
Rating Threads
What are ratings?
The forums allow you to rate threads between 1 star (terrible) and 5 stars (excellent). Once enough votes are cast for a thread, stars will appear next to its name in the listings. These show the average vote, and can be an easy way to see which threads are worth reading if you are on a busy forum.
On the forum viewing page you can also arrange threads by rating, with either the highest or lowest at the top.
It therefore makes sense to rate threads because it helps all users. To do this, click on the ‘rate thread’ link at the top of the thread viewing page. Choose the number of stars you feel best represents the quality of the thread. You may or may not be able to change your choice of rating at a later date.
However the ‘rate this thread’ does not appear on my page (or I guess on anybodys but maybe a select few?)
I suppose if yours works Peter, we could all contact you and ask to add stars to our favourite threads!
cheers

This is not a good move, it leaves the door open for terrorists now able to plan an exact meeting, place and time, on their terms, by staging an accident in a remote spot.
AEW Gannet…..hit every branch on the ugly tree on the way down and actually makes the Fleet Shadower look beautiful.
Would they be able to make a reproduction using only the dataplate (assuming such exists on these marker boards) so keeping it’s unique identity, or would it have to be classed as a replica and only be able to operate on a ‘permit’?
I believe that after the post prang FOD plod, enough of this marker board was recovered (2 black bin bags) to facilitate a rebuild (including the manufacturers plate).
A spokesman for the station workshops said:
An early assessment of the damage by the station workshop team who maintain the Distance To Run Marker Board is that she is eminently repairable. “We have the specialists and the spares to rebuild her and get her back next to the runway as soon as possible” said Tug Wilson. “ A beautiful historic Marker board of this delicate and frangible construction needs to be on show quickly – and as soon as the investigation is complete we will be devoting all resources to repairing and restoring her to full serviceability again.”
he added
“It also appears that our ‘Marker Board’ saved the day, as it was used by the pilot (successfully) to slow down and bring to a halt, his errant aeroplane during our airshow”

……. but we shall know in due course.
……speculation.
I really hope that the distance to run marker board hit during this incident can be repaired, I would hate to think it will be replaced with a carbon fibre copy. Perhaps we will see it lovingly restored by the station workshops and in situ ready for airday 2015.
I doubt that RNAS Culdrose will take the destruction of a piece of their airfield furniture lightly and guess a Merlin helicopter will be sent up to RNAS Yeovilton in the near future to flatten a runway edge light cluster in retribution.
anyway…. donations to help the Navy repair this historic item can be sent to : http://www.RNASCuldrosechristmaspartyfund@btinternet.com
