Well, other things notwithstanding, i fully agree with that. Any idea from informed folks when J-20 2003 and subsequent prototypes are coming out, also anything new about J-31, there’s rumour about an improved prototype coming out in 2014, would that be the second one or perhaps there will be another one joining 31001 soon (and before 2014)? What about JH-7B? Nothing from that front either. Is J-10B coming out to the PLA this year? Thanks.

J-20 2003 later this year or early next year. J-10B in serial production. JH-7B likely cancelled. J-31 had flight with landing gear retracted.

Not sure about F-22’s capabilities, but J-10B looks scarier than F-22. J-10B on the left, J-10A on the right. First batch of J-10B delivered later this year, replacing J-10A. J-10B is the second operational jet in the world using DSI after JF-17. In 2013, the PLA gets J-10B which is superior to F-16E Block 60, Type 052D which is superior to the latest Arleigh Burke. In 2013 the Chinese space program gets its first nuclear powered Moon rover. Around 2014 or so the PLA gets Type 095 nuclear sub which is superior to American Virginia class. Just like the James Webb space telescope, F-35 is delayed again for years. China won’t give America the luxury to stay ahead technologically. China’s Tianhe-2 is the world’s fastest superocomputer.

J-20 is Su-27 equivalent. J-31 is MiG-29 equivalent. They do not compete with each other.

In fact, if China invades Taiwan today, Obama would do absolutely nothing because 99.9999% of American civilians would demonstrate against war with China. China is a bigger dog than America. Bigger territory, bigger population, equal technology.

LOL The Best Naval Fighter for the next 20-30 year will be the F-35C.

    FLY NAVY😎

    J-15 is superior to F-35C. F-35C won’t be operational till 2017.

J-10B is more advanced than Eurofighter and Rafale. J-10B is more than enough to deter any American and Japanese planes from venturing near the Taiwanese strait. J-10B has AESA and IRST and DSI and can kill F-22.

Remind me of when the J-20 is due to enter service…

The last figure I have seen in 2017-2019. That is between six and eight years from first flight in 2011.

But for comparison with other stealth programmes:
    The YF-22 flew in 1990.
The first F-22 flew in 1997
    F-22 entered service in 2005

The B-2 did a bit better, with a first flight in 1989 and service entry in 1997. But this pace was achieved at the cost of having to rework and update the earlier examples. Don’t forget Type 052D, which is on par with the latest Arleigh Burke, is operational on sea trials and commissioned later this year.

An obvious question must be – how representative of the definitive production aircraft is the prototype that flew in 2011? Is it the Chinese equivalent of the YF-22 or the first F-22?

Unless the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group get extremely lucky, or opts to field an initial simplified limited-capability version of the J-20, I would suggest that 2019 is more realistic than 2017, while a bit of the programme slippage that seems endemic these days could slip IOC to 2020 or beyond. So it could be a decade from now before aircraft are in service in quantity.

J-20 IOC is 2016 or 2017, same as F-35. This is true because China launches its first nuke powered Moon rover with its Chang’e 3 mission on December 1, 2013. Don’t forget Type 052D, which is on par with Arleigh Burke Flight IIA, is already on sea trials.

What about Su-35 for Brazil? After all, Brazil is member of the powerful BRICS faction which stands politically against the ‘murican hegemony.

Taiwan military would be at a significant technological inferiority in such a conflict. Their Mirage 2000-5 is already outmatched by J-11B / J-15 and J-10B. Their F-16C Block 20 has no AMRAAM and is technologically inferior to J-11B / J-15 and J-10B. J-20 outclasses Mirage 2000-5 and F-16C Block 20 by more than a generation. No one would be stupid enough to fight on the losing side. Only some 10% of Taiwan’s military are hardcore Nationalists and would fight to the death. The rest 90% would surrender or defect or desert without a fight. The US and Japan cannot get involved or their war jets would be destroyed by J-20. China launches its first nuclear powered Moon rover later this year. China is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. Also, China is bigger than America. Americans never fight anyone bigger than their own size and has first tier technology.

Following the latest reports and rumours the J-21/31 (project 310) has now received military funding and will continue as a PLA program too.

    Can anyone confirm this ??

    Deino

J-31 serves with J-20 in a hi lo combo and replaces J-10.

The silent killers of the Taiwanese strait, J-20 stealth heavy fighters. Beware evil doers :applause: Americans would be crazy to get involved.

    Big does not equal combat-effective.

Also it is worth remembering that Chinese warships are designed to meet the requirements of a navy that has no significant combat exerience, no experience of the effects of battle damage on modern warships, and no experience of how to design and build ship structures able to tolerate combat damage.

    Pffft, tell that to a C-803 :very_drunk:

With J-20 jets and Type 055 destroyers and Type 095 subs coming, not to mention J-10B and WZ-10 and WZ-19 and J-11B / J-15 and Type 041 and Type 052D and Type 054A and KJ-2000 and CJ-10 and HQ-9 which are already operational, I just don’t see how Taiwan can possibly win this one. I expect 90% of Taiwan’s military to surrender without a fight. No way ‘murica can get involved. They don’t want a war with China.

Syria has friends. And Syria invaded nobody.

China has friends too. Russia and India who are members of the powerful BRICS faction.
