We are also talking about a period in time when the public desperately needed
heroes. Most of us can only imagine what it must have been like back in the
    early 1940s.

    Just one question.

How is it that an aircraft such as the Canberra (as well as many other ex-military jets) are allowed to fly in private hands ?

Is it because they are not classified as a “complex aircraft” ?

Overall it wasn’t a bad programme. Aimed at those who have never heard of Bader,
young and old, I would guess ?

Then again you have to think that those who know little or nothing about
WWII, still probably wouldn’t have watched it. Which is a great shame.

I’m looking forward to next week’s story about Beurling, as I know little
about him. Apart from the odd chapter in books about Fighter pilots of WWII.

Southend 2011 the only full display I have seen since its restoration or the passes over Southend Airport in August 2012.

    Yep, same here.

Alan….it happens! I think there was even a TV series “I didn’t realise I was pregnant!”

Well, I’m only going by what a doctor said when this subject came up a few years ago.
He reckoned it was virtually impossible for a woman to get to a stage where she was about to give birth,
without knowing. She may be in denial, perhaps for whatever reason not wanting to believe it, but she
    would definitely know.

I wonder how much they got paid for going on that TV programme ?

    “…She didn’t realize she was pregnant ?…”

Is she trying to insult everyone’s intelligence ?

    Any updates on RM689 ?

I’d met David Moore a couple of times at computer meets.
This is before the days of the Internet as we know it now. When it was Prestel and Micronet. There was an online computer club called Direct Line (before the insurance one started). It was run by a couple of chaps in London. They used to have get togethers at a pub just off the M25 a couple of times a year. I remember David showing us a video of him flying in formation with a couple of Norwegian F-16s. I still have a WWII computer game I bought from him.

It was a very sad day when he died.

Nice pictures, looks like you were blessed with glorious weather.

I’m not overly struck on the colour scheme of the Chippy. A little too much red for my liking.

    ……………………………………..>>>>
When I saw the Defiant a few weeks ago it was getting on to being very close to completion. However, all photography of the aircraft at Medway has been banned by the RAF Museum and there was a large sign proclaiming thus. I think its a RAFM ban, not MAPS from what Lewis Deal told me.

This sort of thing really annoys me. Officialdom just for the sake of it.

If there is a reason, say so. 😡

Lovely pictures. It’s a long time since we went to the Channel Islands.
Shall have to go again. Although I do prefer Guernsey.
