Many years ago, just about every RAF airfield held it’s BoB display, now it’s restricted to Leuchars.
Fair enough, I agree with the Scots having an airshow to look forward to for a change, they don’t get much of a deal after all.
The thing is, Leuchars is pretty remote from the main population areas of Scotland, let alone the rest of the UK. Up until relatively recently, we had at least the Finningley Airshow, but now nothing.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to reshedule Waddington as a UK appreciation of the old BoB displays that we used to look forward to in the old days, I suppose that Leuchars would have to go, but not neccesarily, there’s enough air power to go around, surely.
The BoB was all about the defence of Southern England, not the far north of Scotland, well not directly at the time anyway.
We miss our BoB displays down here, I think that something should be done to rectify this, ‘Lest We Forget’, well I think that the ‘Powers that Be’ have gone down that road, haven’t they.

Lets all watch ‘A Piece of Cake’ tonight then, and get it all into perspective.
That was TFC’s P-51 Miss Velma and Corsair getting back from France after Duxford September Show on Sunday, I was still there when they landed at DX. They had been at the Laval Airshow I beleive.
Thanks very much, Corsair did cross my mind but I couldn’t make out the cranked wings from my angle of view. I keep a pair of bins in the kitchen, and in the dining room, but these things usually turn up so quickly and I have trees at the bottom of the garden as well, it’s very hard to get a good look sometimes, even as I write this, something is lurking out there, but the trees are in the way. The Cat is a different story, you can hear it’s familiar rumble from a long way off, I was looking through some recent vid footage the other day and found a bit of film of it flying up the road, I was able to get to the cupboard, take out the vid, check it was charged and positioned and still manage to film it, complete with my two dogs sitting on the path watching it fly over, now that is an amusing sight, I bet they thought it was the juiciest pidgeon they’d ever seen.
Yesterday at about 16:00 I saw what appeared to be the Buchon flying east to west roughly following the line of the A120, on his way to Jersey I thought, but, silly boy, that was yesterday wasn’t it, it’s not booked for Leuchars either so where was that going, in pretty foul conditions too.
Again, a couple of visits from the Cat this week, it seems to get more flight time than any other vintage type that I know.
Another mystery, last sunday at more or less the time that DX Airshow would be finishing we had a high speed pass from a P-51 and what looked like the Hellcat, heading back towards DX, I wonder where they had been.
The hay bale towers constructed by the neighbouring farmer all but on the threshold at Old Buckenham are legendary.
Moggy
Are you sure they aren’t constructed to assist in landing in fog, I’m sure they must be, he can’t be that stupid, even if he is a farmer. The next time it’s foggy better light them quickly in case he’s trying to extracate his combine harvester from the rush hour traffic and can’t get there in time.
i’m a bit dissapointed, of all the peoples that could have ended the world i think it would have been amusing for it to be the neutral swiss.
Now my friend told be about a rogue planet that the earth will collide with in 2012, but by then there be worse things to worry about!
Like the Olympics perhaps!!

Oh yeah forgot about the salted peanuts just had a look at list of beers they have got at the East Anglian Railway Museum there see here http://www.essex-camra.org.uk/chappel/2008BeerList.HTM looks good

Woo, hoo, have just arranged with father in law and our Hungarian guest to go tomorrow, couldn’t find any beers relating to black holes, Oakham Inferno looks to be the nearest, but they have TT Landlord, please Mr Scientists, leave the device off till saturday afternoon so we can all be transferred quite happily into anti-matter with a smile on our faces, it’ll probably happen anyway.
Please note, no Greene King rubbish.

Bloody Hell, I hope the crew make a full recovery, it looks horrific, it must have been terrifying to watch from the tower.
It’s the same old story everywhere.
Ipswich Airport was forced to close because it was ‘Prime Land’, wasn’t Little Gransden under threat at one stage and of course let us not forget the wonderful Ms Greer’s ( isn’t she Australian) attempts to prevent flying at the hallowed ground of Duxford due to the fact that the Lancaster was being looped and rolled at low level over her house, yeah, right.
When I moved to Finchingfield many years ago, I was aware that it was more or less under the flightpath for Stansted and that the airport would be expanded, it didn’t take much common sense to work that one out. However in later years I was bombarded with petitions from village newbys who used to get very annoyed with me for refusing to sign. Ok, I’m not particularly happy with the plans to build a second runway and wipe out historic buildings and villages, but to move in and then start complaining is pathetic, I can only assume that when they came with the estate agent to look at their pretty and expensive cottages that the wind was in a different direction. Interestingly, when the USAF was based at Wethersfield, as they were for many years, the newbys used to complain about them as well. Considering the amount of charity work they did, including re-hanging the church bells, appearing at village fetes, generally keeping a low profile but always being cheery, polite, helpful souls as US servicemen usually are, it used to make me puke what was said behind their backs.
Doesn’t that depend on how old your daughter is, she could be 40 as far as we know and tear the piece of filth to pieces, forget the Glitter jokes, the sick perverted scumbag isn’t worth even thinking about, it’s not very funny, ok. We can all delve into our depths and find sick jokes about anything, but dredging up Paul Gadd is not a good idea, the pervert is still freewheeling around the world trying to find his next port of call in order to force his ugly old bloated body on his next victim, lets just hope he dies very painfully at the hands of a family member whom he has raped and mistreated, a bit of ignited petrol around the testicles would do nicely, I’d do it myself.
Sick jokes are all very well, but not when the miscreant is at large and capable of carrying out further acts of degeneration, he deserves to die in agony, hung, drawing and quartering spring to mind, he deserves it.
His music was **** anyway.

Oh dear, we’ve all forgotten haven’t we.
Something inside me triggered a thought while watching GMTV this morning.
I remember the day well, my ex-wife had kindly allowed me to store some of my furniture in her garage, I hired a van to move it, was loading stuff when both her and my partner suggested I used my house key to watch it on Sky News, I did, it was horrific, I saw the second plane hit the building live, it was an awfull thing to witness.
We were quite honest with our kids about it afterwards, it hasn’t meant much to them subsequently anyway, but it should.
Lets think today about all those innocent people that died.
