Oh yes the old battle fatigue, bit like the British soldier who murdered his family coz of what he saw in Iraq. Better call my dad (ex soldier) and ask him when hes gonna wipe my family out. As for the goat, well I suppose battle fatigue is a good excuse for whats the word Im looking for…….. Oh yes, abuse.
Pete, I guess the goat seems to be losing the battle here, any news on your report yet?
Bex
No, nothing, however my missus has gone mental over it and is suggesting all kinds of pressure, but I can’t face being on GMTV on monday morning, I shall go and cut the grass and think about it, I bet those lovely goats would prefer to be here doing it for me, doubt whether the dogs would approve though, whoever that refers to.

An interesting thread where I can see the pros and cons of both sides, on the other hand, were totally unique a/c to be grounded, last weeks Legends would have been a bit lacking, no Hawk, Moraine, Mew Gull, Active, Hind, Nimrod, etc etc, even Lancaster.
I won’t quote examples here, but I’m sure you know which one’s I mean, have’nt most warbird accidents been down to pilot error and not airframe failure. Over my many years of airshow attendance I’ve seen performances from some of the best pilots that have made me wince. SG’s performance in the Bearcat on Sunday was awsome, he knows what he’s doing, but so did some of our late friends, it only takes a momentary lapse and…
I think that the BBMF have got it right, they seem to be able to put over a nicely choreographed performance without due risk to the airframes and pilots, in 50 years of constant airshow appearances, I think that their only accident was with the Hurricane, and that was down to a mechanical problem, perhaps the way they do things should be a benchmark.
There seems to be much speculation concerning the welfare of the goat, which is understandable, but has anyone thought of this from another perspective- that of the Marines? If you had been under the strain of combat operations, wouldn’t you want a distraction? Dont get me wrong, i’m not saying that I agree with what they did, but perhaps we should try to understand why they did it.
I’ll get my goat…sorry, coat…
Dean
But isn’t proper training meant to deal with this.

Sorry about the tennis rant Newforest, but I hate it with a vengeance.
My ex wife was/is a fanatic, all normal life used to cease during Wimbledon fortnight. I remember some epic final many years ago, probably involving Borg/ McEnroe/ Connors when she invited half the road round to watch it and I preferred to rebuild the fireplace instead, probably starting the first hints of divorce in the process.
My best mate is also similarly affected, he tried to give me lessons, but my heart wasn’t in it, there’s only one sport, as far as I’m concerned, thats worth seriously playing, and thats cricket, it’s a team sport, mostly courteous, with loads of traditions, and quite frankly, the dogs.
Not only that, but apart from football and middle distance running, something I was quite good at. It’s a bit sad when you get too old for these sort of things.
Apart from that, not much happening on the wildlife front, we did have something very large and noisy scrabbling at the fence a few nights ago, I presume it was Mr Fox, the dogs did not attempt to go out and intervene, unusually. We also had a massive formation of swifts overhead one night that I estimated at being over a hundred, the RSPB seem to feel that they are on the decline.

Ok you say, it’s just a goat, not affected by what happened, and this may be true. Personally, I think that goats are great creatures, I spent last saturday afternoon loading up straw amongst a field full of their cousins, called sheep incidentally, and they were such cute loveable things that how anyone could take the p### and frighten them this way is beyond me, my missus is the ultimate animal lover, I sit on the fence a bit, if I showed her that video she’d be on the first transport to Afganistan and hunt them down, Osama, live in fear of madam on the warpath, she’s probably worth 50 US Divisions.
Kev35 is right, they should be channeling their eforts in to blowing up the Taleban, not poor old goats.
Incidentally, no feed back from the Pentagon yet, I may have to remind them shortly.

I never saw any of those thunderbugs at the TFC enclosure, perhaps the combination of propwash, engine noise and overwhelming perfume worn by some of the glam women in there kept them at bay.
Incidentally Napier Sabre, how did you get from Colchester to DX by public transport, was it by special bus or circuitous railway route, if you have any problems in future, catch the bus or train to Braintree and I’ll happily give you a lift.
Especially for you, Pete!

Brilliant!!!!!, will they be at next years Legends.
Caroline Grace’s Spitfire landed back at about 18:00 on sunday, I never saw it take off, unless it was before 9:00. From what my missus says, it was stooging around here all day and made an appearance at the Wethersfield RSPCA show, some Spitfires have to fullfill other obligations.
The static engines were fantastic, standing up close, they frightened the life out of me, was that the Welland jet engine that was run up, it was pointing straight at us and we were concerned about it running away…..
Just another thing, and I know they mean well, but can you really take some of these re-enactors seriously. Some of them look as if they are involved in a Monty Python sketch, I saw one bloke in a US Paratroop uniform that made me think that if C-47’s were occupied by people like him, then it would never have got off the ground, perhaps next year, I’ll dig some of my stuff out, get in for nothing and stand about with bored indifference, I may be an old git but at least I’m slim.
Another piece of negativity for you to notch up Trumper.
Well, that was interesting, Pentagon duly informed, we’ll see what happens next, hoards of CIA agents through my door perhaps.

Harmless fun!!!!, they are sick, cruel, evil, F######, B######.
Apart from the effect it had on the poor innocent goats, don’t forget they are probably some poor locals source of milk, food, cheese, breeding, livelyhood etc etc. How to improve your standing and friendship with the local people eh, how can they respect twats like that, no doubt the Taleban probably respect their goats more than they do women and female children.
I hope the W###### get court marshalled.
Thinking about it, there must be an E-mail address for the Pentagon, they might be well interested in that video.
