Lightning news – The current markings (Saudi) are being recorded and archived and as soon as that is complete, a repaint into F-6 colurs will begin. The thoughts so far are either 5 or 11 Sqn. Thoughts on particular colour schemes? (something colourful please… oh, no bare metal either!)
 WHY? .
John.
Thanks for comments guys!!
Sure is…I completely cocked up the shot…this looks better anyway I think!
😀
Your gonna have to fess up on how you did that one, it’s brilliant, I have a few shots of the F-15 in that pose and would like to alter it like you have, I am assuming you add a filter or such like to it?.
Gentle pointers are most welcome:D .

F.M – th owner of the Swift let her be recovered in the first place. It could quite otherwise have become tin cans. Scrapyard owners are notorious difficult to deal with – the position with the Swift is I am sure difficult for NEAM. Maybe a slap isn’t in order?
Ok foot firmly in mouth and feeling stupid, credit to LL for making the situation public, it must be very hard given the situation to watch such an historic airframe deteriorate.
Hopefully the situation will be sorted out amicably and I wish the best for NEAM’s future.

John.
It did. The Unimetals problem exists with the Balliol wreck and the swift also. The owner will not allow any restoration work or preservation work of any kind on the airframes. The swift is in primer, and although indoors, not in good health, and certainly not a good representation of such a historic airframe. For those that don’t know, WK198 was the world Airspeed record holder for a while. Perhaps a new home could be in order… (my opinion)
Why would someone who owns such an historic and rare airframe let it go to the dogs, IMHO someone needs a good slap:mad: .
John.
Superb F15 shot, photoshop?.

Nikon FM (stands for “full manual”? the light meter is the only thing that uses the battery, film speed [35mm], aperture, exposure time, and focus are all selected by the operator), since 1982.
Whot’s digital photography look like?
Thats funny I have one of those “full manual” widgets on my Nikon too and the 500+ pictures I will take tomorrow at RIAT will cost me……£0 :diablo: .
John.

The Spitfire XIX is PS890/F-AZJS, fitted with a Shackleton engine and prop assembly, I believe.
So did they call it a Spitleton or a Shacklefire?.
John (feeling slightly silly now:o ).

Why don’t you get yourself to Bruntingthorpe on the 22nd, then you can rub shoulders with ex Lightning pilots and chat to them for hours, oh and they will be running TWO Lightnings on full re-heat down the runway too.
As for CAA and flight in the UK, this forum aint big enough for the problems:eek: .

John.
I think that you will need a bit more than 40 tonnes of hardcore / concrete if it is to hold the weight of a Vulcan – ask the Lightning Group at Bruntingthorpe about how much they used for their QRA shed.
See post #331 on the link below:

I agree with your line of thought but the QRA hanger had to have a base to support moving aircraft hence the amount of concrete used, for a vulcan then surely three heavyweight pads for the undercarriage would suffice.
The rest of the base can be lightweight so making quite a considerable cost saving.
