The DC2 has already done more displays in the UK this year.
I like the way this is developing into a beer and food thread.
I might just be tempted to post a ‘whats you favorite beer’ poll on the open forum.
Sorry Andrewman my mistake,I was going to contribute to this thread because I thought it was titled ‘A few pints’.
And I thought it was me that had been to the pub !!.
Manonthefence-
You know I think thats the only pub in Sutton that I never been into, or at least I can’t remember it. I have been in the Plough many times, the Swan quite a bit a few years back and the Fish to eat, but can’t remember the G & D. It looks nice and oldy worldy from the outside, perhaps I’l pop in one day.
So you live in the big mansion opposite – wow!!!.
Saturday afternoon my greenhouse thermometer went off its scale and thats 50C!, I moved it out side in the shade and it settled at 36/37 C, pretty hot, mind you it was still reading 30C at midnight and 24C at 4am, unless my eyes were deceiving me, and that was quite possible that night/morning.:)

Manonthefence, that sounds about right it was a few miles north of Boscome on the A338. Excellent pint.
Talking of which I’m out your way tonight, I’m at the Red Lion Drayton, not such a good pint (Greene King rubbish) but a pretty reasonable pub.
Brakespears brewery no longer exists although their beer does, brewed by some euromixer somewhere and tastes like crap (some might say it always did). My local is a Brakespears pub and the only thing I find worth drinking with their name on is the ‘live organic’, bottled and about 5. something %. Nice beer but gives you (does me anyway!!) cronic wind.
Talking of beer, one of my favourites, not because of its name, is Shepherd and Neames Spitfire , I always stock it at home (Sainsbury’s and Waitrose have cases of 12 pints on offer at £13 at the moment-excellent value) and yesterday coming back from family day out in Dorset I happened across a pub near Boscome Down(the Crown) that sold draught Spitfire, cooled just enough not to ruin the taste but brilliant for quenching the thirst on a stinking hot day, the food was excellent too, so 10/10 to the Crown. Whats more my wife saw how much I was enjoying the beer that she offered to drive the rest of the journey, excellent day out.
Ah Roast Chicken, one of those ‘what if my granny left me 10 squillion quid a 1000 acre airfield and 200 perfectly preserved aircraft in hangars’ questions.
I’m hot and bored in the office so I’ll play, and as its hypothetical I’ll include unavailable aircraft.
Where – Easy – Former RAF Abingdon, would evoke so many memories.

Nice Thread Blue Robin, whilst not a flier (not for the want of trying) its one of those places I have always fancied a look at. I have friends that have flown from / to there and say what a nice place it is.One of these friends covered photographically the recent en-mass Tiger flight from there and said that the folks were really accommodating.
I’m not adverse to a bit of oldish GA so I could see me having a good day there.
Incidentally, looking at the picture with the Miles in the background I was wondering just how many aircraft from that fine stable still exist in the UK and do they have a gathering at some time. I think Miles manufactured some of the prettiest and most photogenic aircraft of all.
Come on everyone, for heavens sake. I know we are all pretty passionate about aviation, in particular the historic aspect but lets be united in that passion.
Everyone remotely involved in the tragic Firefly accident , whether in the industry , a pilot or a spectator will be upset by it, thats very understandable and of course emmotions will run high. I thankfully did not see the accident first hand although I have seen others, most recently at Coventry and I know the feelings you experience.
As David Burke has said in his inimitable level headed style lets not get involved emmotionally or otherwise, there are appointed expert bodies investigating the accident who will be thorough, professional and reach a satisfactory conclusion and until such time we should not publically speculate.
We should endeavour to enjoy avaition, albeit difficult at times like this, whether it be our hoby or profession and enjoy it together.
