    Hear Hear !

Compliments of the season and goodwill to all men.

Especially those suffering from or threatened by UB40’S.

Absolutely. I never liked their brand of Pseudo-reggae at all (except Red Red Wine which was OK)

That’s another infamous totalitarian trait, rubbishing the arguments of the opposition and accusing them of telling lies. Let me extend it a little: Jean Monnet didn’t actually exist. He/she was a figment of the imagination of fairy tale writer Lewis Carroll.

When you’re motivated to produce those kind of arguments then your case is very, very thin indeed.

AP should be very, very ashamed.

    John Green

Let me get this right. You produce a quote supporting your argument about what the alleged real purpose of European integration is. I find evidence after a brief internet search that this quote seems to be falsely attributed. And I’m the one who should be ashamed?
A post of yours in another thread suggested that one could use the internet to find evidence that you failed to produce yourself. I’ve done exactly that but I should be ashamed?

I would suggest that your rather insular and frankly insulting post needs a very close look at. What do you think would be wrong with actually debating the points at hand without resorting to personal insult? Would that be possible? Posts of yours directed at me in other threads seem to be of the similar nature.

Why are you talking about Al Qaeda – that’s completely different as well you know and what does Nigel Farage’s wife have to do with anything?

By the way, Farage isn’t too happy with Cameron either, so for the first time ever I find myself agreeing with UKIP albeit not for the same reasons.

The 70 year old prejudices were not referring to those within the European parliament but rather those closer to home. There is a Daily-Mail type mindset that seems to think WW2 is still being fought.

Would it not be better to be liked and part of the club rather than peering through the window and wondering what was going on?

Many if not most of the countries in Europe have made their own sacrifices in the past and many who now get on together were bitter enemies in the past. Maybe they have ability to remember what went on before but are also able to move on and let bygones be bygones.

Some governments have shown recently that they can’t trusted to control their own budgets and yet expected others to bail them out. When a large proportion of that bailout is German money then they should have a say in how it is spent.

Europe is and has always been a complex issue but we shouldn’t let 70 year old prejudices colour our judgment.

Well, after a bit of research it appears the Jean Monnet quote is false. That doesn’t really surprise me as generally Britain is highly suspicious of Europe. But the fact that Europeans underwent occupation several times in the last century would suggest that they would do anything to avoid that situation in the future.

The EU is clearly not without problems, any organization with such a diverse number of nations is going to suffer that way, but we are far better off being in it than out. We can never hope to change anything about the way it run by being on the outside.

When such small-minded politics overrides national and indeed pan-European interests then it is little wonder that Britain is hated so much in Europe. Cameron has truly isolated Britain. As I said before, I hope we don’t regret this decision.

    Toy Story 3
Brilliant. Funny, sad and exciting all in one great film. Suitable for anyone who is a child or was once a child. 🙂

    Little Fockers

Could a film with Ben Stiller, Robert de Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Barbra Streisand and Owen Wilson be bad? Yes it could. Unfunny, crude predictable, annoying – it is all of these things – Avoid.

There is little or no value in you arguing this point, all it is doing is upsetting all who read it.

A bit of advice; when you’re in a hole, stop digging.

    The American

George Clooney is an assassin doing that one last job. Beautifully shot and a bit “arty”. Don’t watch if you are expecting James Bond or the Bourne Identity. It isn’t like that at all.

    Night of the Demons 2010

A teen haunted mansion monsters Halloween type thing. Good monsters and decent soundtrack. That’s about it.

    REC 2

Follows on from REC in a Spanish zombie rage 28 days later sort of affair. Better than REC I thought.

Despite what others think, trade with the rest of Europe is considerably easier because we are a member. Anyone who traded with the US recently will realize this. Our economy, industry, regulatory bodies are so integrated with Europe that leaving it would be very difficult. I hope it doesn’t come to that.
