I’ve no idea of the geography of La Ferte Alais, but I bet there’s not too much gap between those trees he disappears behind and the ground.
Luckily, the airfield is situated on top of a hill – therefore he had sufficient air left under his wings……..

now let’s quickly go inside the forward fuselage & cockpit and have a look at the amazing restoration job:

And here are two more engines – one in unrestored, and one in restored (static) condition:

there’s also another P-51D under rebuild in The Netherlands – they’re making good progress and this one should take to the air “when it’s ready”
Another project is located in Northern Italy, but that one is a long way from being finished.
and then there’s another project with UK connections; it’s on the backburner, but I am not supposed to tell anything

what about ‘Da Quake’ whats going on with her?
“Da Quake” has first to be found but her existence is highly doubtful – the airframe under restoration is “the other aircraft” that landed on the same beach that day.
no kiddin’ !

P-51’s don’t “work” – they fly, soar, zoom, loop, whatever…….. and when the don’t fly, they rest, get TLC, relax – they always enjoy themselves
