My grandfather was at Charterhouse with John Derry. They used to bunk off and watch the Gauntletts at Farnborough.
It is nice to hear Anthony Richards being remembered too. Flight Test Engineers/observers are often forgotten – many have lost their lives, and sadly as witnessed recently, still do.
The fact that they are buried together is poignant too. Where are they buried John?
I am with David on this one. Depends if you want pretty vs authentic. Again, depends on type.
Beautiful!
What a cool and informative thread! Thanx all
very nice!
These accidents are very sad.
Could someone please amend the thread title to have the date please. I keep returning to the forum and think….on no, another L39 crash….
Cool Andy! I remember him walking around Tangers AJ in his big suit with his young lady (or a young lady) who was very petite. Very gruff…….especially when he cam to my stall….On the other hand, Nick Grace was a nice chap….I remember chatting to him about oil pressure gauges I had, he then looked at his watch…dashed out whilst saying keep your ears out in 30 mins. Sure enough, he returned in the Spit over the marquee….TWTD!
Probably because it is being moved from Blenheim Palace and, being it is an active airfield and the Lysander very open, they did not want to drop Foreign objects/risk FODding something?
Indeed, I have quite a stock of lovely old component adverts….never was good to put the address on them!!!
Not a silly post at all. You may wish to contemplate a slice thru…..the panel is easy to do. You can go with real or fake instruments – choice entirely yours. The tubing is heavy duty, but for a slice thru, could use exhaust/seamless. All the tubes would not be too difficult to do given a max of 2x square sections per tube. There are quite a few ‘ancillary’ panels around for tempest/typhoon…..good luck and have fun….I know that I and many others lurking here do!!
I was at the Museum, as we put the Hunter’s tail back on…..and saw her flyby….pity
That will be sad. It is 21 years since I did various exercises on her as a scared student!! Feels like only yesterday
I saw him at GOML 2007, just after he landed in Ina Macon Belle…..jolly nice chap.
