Fascinating thread chaps and some thought provoking stuff. This is one of the first threads where actually everyone is right. I can see Geoff’s view and I can also see Bruce’s and everyone else. My original question was should I bother to restore? I have collected any parts I can get for a many years. I have another piece of Lanc yoke that most certainly will not be used in this restoration even though it has two of the parts required – the reason? It is a relic in its own right and I bought it when I was 11 for £1.60 that included P&P!!! I will post a piccie if someone wants! Though some may think me silly not to include it in the resto
I am keen on sympathetic restoration and will be restoring this yoke to utilise as much original as possible. None of the donor parts have any history other than scrapyard….sadly.
I am still keen to buy one of Geoff’s. This would allow me to have something to use when I do displays to children.

thanx chaps….I think I will restore it and use all the original parts as it is better having some original parts…..cheers again….

great to see everyone….it was a cold night last night….also, I did not know that modern tents needed re=proofing so I re-enacted the last throws of the Titanic sinking! In the words of our old dinghy drill instructor (who had banged out of a Bucc over Moray Firth)…’I have never been so cold’!

Good to meet old friends and make new acquaintences though.

Lovely to hear you say that Tim……..I often hear people with nil knowledge saying otherwise, so it is great to hear your learned view. My avatar piccie is my Hurri spade grip from an aircraft that had to be repaired in 1938/9 and removed as a souvenir by the pilot!

that is Hurricane old chap!!! goes by the gravity fuel tank! Should have a ‘H Ltd 1940’ on it!

Don’t forget the armour plate that attaches to the back of this item.

cheers Steve…..I have the rear 1/2 moon thingy, but have not managed to acquire real armour yet…will prob have to get a drawing and make an MDF one as a starter!!

Unless anyone has some armour kicking around needing a deserving home!!???

Merkle old chap, as you know I admire your resilience over the last few months. There is absolutely nothing wrong with dreaming….it kept me going thru my dark days! Things get better.

Keep going at it and one day you will get that project done. The best thing is to get one project and stick at it….as you know well, I am no good at following that advice.

To all others that feel a dig is called…..walk one mile in his shoes and then you can try and dash his dreams. This thread is bigger than just one person….it actually sums up what is good and bad on the forum.

yeah sure ,
just so you know who I am , I will be wearing a woolie bobble hat , rain coat , shorts and flip flops , with an umbrella under one arm and a tube of sunblock in the other hand , no scrap the sunblock , I will get sunburnt and wear it as a badge of pride .
Where do you suggest meeting ? will you have your cart with you ?

Given the aircraft on show, I will be donning my flying helmet and stick of wet celery!!!

Looking forward to this. Ginger Neil is a real gent. His books are of similar quality and readability to Geoff Wellum’s.

If anyone wants to kick me (or avoid me!) I will prob wear my Merlin Power T shirt!!

There are some numbers on both sides new pics attached. Almost forgot, there is only one piece of glass the triangles openings are not glassed at all.
