if the P&W R2800 is easier to use/operate ?
(like the Sea Fury debate i suppose ?)
It certainly is in its home country!
Looking good – can u clarify wot engine has been stuffed into the front end ????
P&W R2800 as pointed out in the first post.
I have a cd full of em
You mean ones that are NOT at RAFM? Most interesting if so.
Are there any significant Spitfire drawings that exist outside of the RAFM collection?
I,m wondering who the lucky ****** is who has the job to polish the Tbolt when it,s finished.
I would be verysurprised if they did that 😮
Thats great news – thanks Mark (time for everyone to update their databases to 48!).
Hi Steve,
Thought it was the fwd one on F5.Can send you a copy as well.PM your email addy 🙂
The forward angles attach the engine cowlings – the rear one is a one piece item with (with inward projecting brackets) which holds the tank armour and the fwd fastenings for the tank cover.
Nicholas Trudgian for me!
Another drawing request!!? Please?! A nice chap has made me the curved L channel that takes the cowling fasteners and goes around the top (half moon shape). Anyway, I need to finish it (trim width and put in cowl fastener holes).
Don’t forget the armour plate that attaches to the back of this item.
The MAC drawings are all in ledgers, or on the museum’s library’s computer, so it will necessitate a (weekday) visit to the library to find the relevant ones.
Edgar
Last time I was there they were on microfiche cards in a filing cabinet
Is this aircraft the former Duxford based machine?
No – see comment below.
What unit aircraft are the markings depicting Steve?
Its the aircraft of Georg Schott, Staffelkapitan of 1/JG1 based at Deelen, Holland. He was killed in combat in September 1943.
In the background of the fourth image of your link, can be seen another FW190. Which one is this and who owns it? What’s the schedule for this aircraft and what markings will it feature?
This is the former Tom Blair aircraft that was based at Dx. Its been paint stripped and will eventually be going in to a silver, semi-military scheme (not being dealt with by WCS). Its owned by a private individual, Europe mainland based.
Have they found a digital version of the Kommandogerat analogue brainbox to use in the airframes ?
I believe not – it uses conventional controls. I did examine a Kommandogerat unit recently and its frighteningly complex – akin to a very large Swiss watch!! 😮
Thanks for all the nice comments chaps – it will be easily the best example of the FW-190 repro, complete with many original parts as Bruce pointed out. I will pass these comments on to Jurgen and the team at Meier Motors.
Please, if anyone can advise how can I get to North Weald at the weekend, I dont have my own transport so am looking at trains or buses.
take the tube to Epping at the end of the Central Line – you can then get a cab or bus to the the airfield.
