I agree with Skybolt. The last couple of years the weather has not been too favourable to the PFA/FFF rally. I’m heavily involved with the VAC and so far this year we’ve suffered from the weather too as many others will testify. I know how much organisation goes into events such as our small VAC ones and the likes of Abingdon Fayre so the weather must have been a blow for them.
The VAC has suffered from the negative GA image with the trouble at TW over the last 12+ months (although we are back there in for the rest of 2005). Let talk it up folks otherwise the pilots amongst you will have less and less choice as where to go and even more restrictions.
Don’t knock the enthusiasts (I know some are cretinous and some have dubious motives and drives) but remember they are also amongst those who will write to MP’s, local councils and so forth and help fight your corner.
Don’t forget the likes of myself, and my team who marshal, do it at our own expense for little or more often no reward and just for the love of all things that fly.
Another 2 penneth in the pile.
Sad to say I didn’t go to PFA/FFF this year but I have been regularly in the past.
