I remember seeing G-LANC as she was on a couple of lorries passing through Towcester on the (now old) A43 still in her Canadian markings. She was being accompanied by the Lincoln G-APRJ… Made my day that. I dread to think how long ago that was…

Not to worry about the 19th… There are a few more dates to choose from…
We have one visitor already for the 19th – Haairyplanes PT-22 is at TW for the week and will be rolled out onto the line for the day.

PLease note folks that airside access will be VAC members and aircrew only – occaisional escorted walks may be available subject to free bodies…

We are going to try and sort the arrivals with Vintage & Classic closest to the “fence”.

Anorak time… Isn’t the Frogfoot the one that was at Boscombe for ATI ’92? If so the passing 12 years have not been kind to the scheme…
Some line up of aircraft there though despite the weathering it is an impressive collectioon.

Perhaps it has some real bits but is of untracable lineage and/or operates ina similar way to our permit types hence the homebuilt type registration. Some of “our” Tigers have non-DH con numbers as they are bitsas or remanufactured.
The wings and fuel tank look original (although the slats have been deleted) and overall proportions seem to be correct. The oil tank looks wrong but maybe due to the differing engine and cowling.
I tried a hunt for the registration too but to no avail. Will have a look though some stuff at home and see if that can give any indications. Won’t be able to get back to you until Monday though.
Any other photos from the event you are able to share in the mean time?

LATEST UPDATE

Well at last we have a date for the hearing:
16th September 2004
first event date on the application – 19th September 2004!!!! 😮 :confused: 😡 🙁

I suppose the good thing is that the planning application is for the September and October events in 2004 and for all five for 2005.

Dates for 2005 are:
15 Jan – Snowball
13 Feb – Valentine
16 Apr – Daffodil
18 Sep – Vintage & Classic day
29 Oct – All Hallows

Thanks to everyone for their support in this insanity – (not unlike Headcorns problems – see the thread in the Historics Forum) – Just hope we’ve put up a better case than the “opposition”.

Yes Biggles featured John Jordan flying his Stearman G-AROY in “appropriate” markings as the German “von Stallein” or something not too dissimilar… (an unusual film indeed – and yes I own a copy as I’ve flown the Stearman – one circuit at Cranfield when a ‘Spacey’)
It also had set dressing of several Shuttleworth aircraft and modified Stampes (with a rear gunner) and the aforementioned Bell 206 Jet Ranger.

Brno is in the Czech Republic.

Looking at the picture it looks like it could be a part replica – the doors don’t look right for a start. Also the ignition switches appear to have been moved inside the cockpit.

I’d think it’s “wrong way round” as it would be the reverse of the side that the VIP’s get in on and they’re treating the tail leading edge as the flag pole…?

His complaint is over the number of aircraft that use the airfield…!
I was up at TW last night and apparently he’s been quiet for just over three months now – not a word or phone call… So who knows what’s going on.

We (the VAC) only have 5 events there each year Jan, Feb, Apr, Sep and late Oct/early Nov. So quite spaced out. The British F1 Grand Prix is in July so it is an even spread over a year for events.

Buys a house next to (as in right on the boundary) an active airfield and then moans…
