24 hours to die
Surprisingy not that bad. Bit of a mindless kinda watching film (which is not a criticism – sometimes it is just what you need) and none the worse for it.
The basic plot is about the kidnap of a decoy and the then kidnap of the real target in an attempt to make the trade, thing is the cops and a couple of rogue cops get in the way. (Sounds poor but isn’t too bad as I said). Watchable.
Another 24 hours to die
Despite the title I could find no connection between the two films other than the time limit. Again a simple to watch film. The plot this time is that a man wakes up to find he has been operated on and a mystery voice is on the phone and just before he hangs up the guy doubles in pain due to the implantation of a device that the caller controls. Anyway, before long the caller sets the chap out on his quest controlling him witht he pain and the threat that he can be killed for non-compliance. These tasks are specifically designed to ruin his life as he knows it. Although slightly unbelieveable in places verdict:
Watchable.
The Wild Geese
I admit I’d never watched his before. Not a bad film – looked a bit like an old boys last time out reunion – but quite watchable. Richard Burton is tasked to for a team to rescue an African leader held by his (the African’s) rival. The team is assembled and set out to rescue this man. Then things take a turn as they are double crossed. A bit like in the Westerns where someone says “I’ll cover the roof” and you know they will be dead very soon after one of the characters makes a promise to his son and you just know he’ll not make it so you spend the film waiting for his demise.
Quite good.
Cannonball Run
An all star romp across the USA in an illegal road race. Simple fun with little thinking required.
Enjoyable stupidity.
