I agree, these poor women were indeed someone’s daughter, lover, mother (in some cases) and not “just” prostitutes. My condolences with their loved ones and friends.

The first victim in “this batch” was last seen at the end of October. How many more are there as the disappearances cover such a time period and it is only the last three that have happened in the space of a few days/week.

I said “this batch” as it is now thought that a murder 14 years ago is possibly connected. How many more?

How long before people say this shoould not be allowed to happen again? Surely this is the time to legalise prostitution and make it safer for these women (and in some cases no doubt, men) to earn the money in the way they choose?

Also cars had individual style and didn’t all look exactly the same…

I wasn’t around in the 60’s but many of these things carried across to the 70’s.
TV today is shameful compared to 20 years ago or so. 🙁

I don’t know about lucky, hard up was probably the correct term for our family. I suppose the rent was fairly cheap in those days. My mate Marks family had their own house, and they were much better off financially than we were. But the large garden made up for all that, it was bigger than Marks . We always seemed to have some money to buy sweets, favorites were, Chocolate, Sherbet, Lollies, Ice cream, Bubble Gum and peanuts. The weather was much different then, more rain in the summer, and colder winters. 🙂

When I last flew past on 29th Oct, there were no cars there. IIRC Heyford was the car park for Rover so this would explain why.

The land is owned by the MoD. It is rented out to a number of companies so bring in the pennies and reduce the maintenance bill to them (the MoD).
The car people are still there just not such a large presence. (Something to do allegedly with a number of thefts amongst other things I believe.)

Defenders apparently have hard points on the wings and do come in a maritime version too…

Thanks for the info everyone. Here’s a stupid question…Is it possible to get a tour through the old parts of the airbase? My Uncle was stationed there in 1942. I would love to see what it looks like on the inside.
