Hey Kev
That was around the same week in the paper that the Freddie Starr ate my hamster story appeared.
That paper was great for some of the headlines it pulled.
Freddie Star was a Sun headline I think, but they exceeded that when Elton John had his civil ceremony a few years back, “Elton takes David up the aisle”
I cried at that one !

Swearing apart there’s always the other taboo subject …Iv’e not seen any re runs of ‘Till Death us do Part” Alf Garnett is perhaps that one step to far nowadays and would tip the PC police over the edge ,
“Love They Neighbour” anybody ? Not on DVD I think ! – Yet, Eddie Booth always came out the looser despite being a racist bigot, I can’t see it being picked up by any channel now though.
I think TV comics like many in the media suffer from over exposure and the material can only go so far. If you see any Peter Kay DVD’s/TV shows, the material is often repeated, and I have to say that not much TV gives me real belly laughs. Then again a quip from “two and a half men” had me going – a man talking with his ex wife:
she says “I was a terrible wife, and then I blew it as a lesbian” and he says “maybe thats where you went wrong?” 😀

like many conspiracies, this one can be proven/disproven with ease !! I saw a documentary about it a while ago, the ships screws were of a different design and on the Titantic (EG, North Atlantic) the s/n on them matched the drawings in the archive. There is one guy who makes a living on the lecture tour and with books, have to say that (pardon the pun) it doesn’t hold much water with me.

Morris Ital
anybody remember these?
after selling a really nice Astra so I could afford my first mortgage, my then partners Uncle loaned me what he said was a “lovely runner”.
Morris Ital, hand painted with hammerite to keep the rust out, or to hold it together, it literally spewed oil as you drove it. Dreadful thing, heavy, rusty, thirsty on petrol and oil, I kept it two days and gave it back and got the bus instead !

Much better to have a car that looks slow and isn’t than to have a car that looks fast and isn’t. The latter only embarrasses its owner
Moggy
A good friend of mine is a real “petrol head” car fan, he calls such cars “Q cars”. He once had a 2.0 Ltr Audi 80 that was rear ended and a company called GTI engineering who were based at Thruxton rebuilt it.
No badges, no big wheels, just a very fast Audi – IIRC they were one of the few companies allowed to work on Audi etc, without voiding the warranty – I may be wrong, I just remember going at insane speeds at about 5:30 one morning on the M-25.

The Naked Gun
Another film not seen all the way through. Forgot how funny it was with all the visual gags, almost on a par with Airplane!
Surely you can’t be serious ? :diablo:
