Always the same, I checked Wiki about 5 minutes after my last post and it says that in 1981 Maggie Thatcher looked into resurrecting the TSR-2 with modern technology but it wasn’t taken any further.
I’m sure the TSR-2 would have looked amazing in desert pink during GW1! 😀
I don’t think it could have been taken any further, don’t forget the jigs, tools etc were all scrapped – a real “scorched earth” cancellation like the Arrow.
Either way, take a look at the link I posted above, it does look damn fine, that guy knows who to work with plastic, and look at the list of kits he used to get all the bits and pieces, amazing.
here is the link http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=182162
not sure on that – the Buccaneer replaced the F-111 order which replaced the TSR-2 order. I did read of an air to air version which was offered to Canada when the Arrow was binned so that Phantom is a valid call as well (no F-3 Tornado either don’t forget)
so “TSR-3” would be in the class of the Mirage 4000 or similar then I guess?
Reads like something out of “Sky Captain & The World Of Tomorrow”…..;)
Looked over a few cutaways and the image of the “skinless” P-47 at the factory, can’t see anything – mixed up with the A-10 and its semi retracted wheels maybe?
i like that LOTS!!!
absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
It looks impressive doesn’t it?, if you think, it would be 40 odd years old and well used so well worn, lots of ECM bumps etc, maybe a few panels to strengthen (like the Phantom) for the last few years etc, up to date weapons.
So, thread drift – IF it had come into service it would by now, or about now be replaced….. what with !???
hey guys, getting to the end of my TSR.2 Build now, im wondering does anyone have any sort of idea what armament she would carry, and if there was provision for underwing pylons? if so, what sort of ordanance would she have carried underwing?
i dispensed with a wraparound camo scheme and painted he in a light sea gray modern scheme similar to the jaguars before their retirement
(pics soon i promise)

This may give you some inspiration- sharkmouth a bit OTT for me but I like the “warts” and pods etc

For me, the very best way of preserving/restoring aircrafts is what the Fleet Air Arm Museum did with its Corsair and its Martlet.
.
When I first saw KD-431 I was blown away, I spent ages down there walking around her, but since then my thoughts have changed. While in service, she never looked quite like she does now either and while the “strip down” has bought out lots of information about manufacture, colours etc, I can’t help but wonder if now it has all been exposed, if an accurate scheme would now be appropropriate to apply? Then again, when I get my own Corsair……
Chapter 2 of David Anderton’s Osprey book on the F-100 deals quite well with the early problems. If you can get hold of a copy it’s a good read. What is evident is that it was the early production models that had the problem. The vertical tail on the YF-100 prototypes was higher than the production model. I wonder why they reduced it?
The Crowood Press book on the F-100 is very good as well and covers this subject IIRC – IMO the Crowood range are very “Hit and miss” (Typhoon/Tempest one is pretty poor for example) but the F-100 is well worth it IMO.
&*&^&**^%^&
What a nut case – “reckless endangerment” or whatever the charge would be ?
Imagine the airliner loosing an engine on decent like that…..
crazy….
You sound as if you know what you are talking about !!;) I’m guessing you like VC-10’s !?
I’ll take your recomendation and add it to my “wish list” for the Mrs to see.
ALBM ??? have to say I’m very curious!
I saw that – thanks, but it doesn’t answer what the term means 🙁
interesting notion though to research a book about the VC-10 like that, I’m guessing the term relates to ELINT or something…..
that is a shame to see “In print”
not overly suprised though, looking at the other thread(s), something would have come to light by now, stills of the replicas etc, just hope its a delay (development hell) and it will come to light, I still think Peter Jackson could make a good film based on his work to date.
Must be known somewhere – its not that deep surely, the diver has no tank?
was googling and found http://www.croatia-beaches.com/diving/kaprije.html
I’m guessing that got lost in translation with the weapons attributed ?
I knew this would turn into a “we do it better that the U.S.” thread. Come on, be honest, there are inaccurate warbirds everywhere..and always will be because they are owned by people who have their own tastes and choices.
But unless you have a warbird, don’t complain about it..or if you do…try not to generalize.Slipperysam and BlueRobin have it right, it’s probably good for the airframe and will fade in a awhile.
It certainly doesn’t hurt…while probably making it faster & reduce fuel burn.
I agree – not my personal taste, then again its preserved, being looked after (obviously) flying (even better) so no problem at all.
Tough choice…
Chain Lightning mention was a suprise, I always thought it was a Lemon ? Then again Pagen likes Gannetts….;):D
Fury/Tempest certainly best low level fighter – still need something higher up I guess – based on actual later use, F4U makes sense as well, it served well in Korea.
Tempest/Fury for me – add some Hornets for over water escort work etc (Norway etc) and bring on the MB-5 into service so we can sell it to other forces after the war with a full production run.
I know in my head there was nothing else I could do for him but I’m still absolutely gutted I really thought he was going to be ok. I’ve relived my actions a thousand times, can’t help but beat myself up about it all though.
Again, I apologise if I’ve over stepped the mark.

when I was 15, there was a car accident close to my school, we were on the field in an unsupervised PE lesson and went over the fence to the scene. There was total silence (it seemed) and a very still lady in the car, as we approached a very upset dog was running around, we got a hold of it, put (IIRC) a t-shirt or something through its collar to use as a lead and calmed it down. One look at the car was enough, the front half was very compacted (head on collision, other vehicle had people around it) The authorities arrived, took the dog from us, thanked us, walked us back into school. Very numb, very quiet, no banter, even now its difficult to think about in detail. Every word you have written is understandable from my point of view.
