Peter, I’ve already said it, but I’ll happily say again how much I am enjoying this thread.
Seeing the FW come to grief makes me feel grateful that no one was seriously hurt. No doubt she’ll fly again.
Thank you
Andy
I’ve often tried to imagine how everyone would have felt knowing the war was over.
Probably one of the best feelings of relief and elation imaginable.
It also never ceases to blow me away that 22 year olds were turned loose with armed Mosquitoes.
Talk about a hot rod!!
Andy
Thanks for the update.
Stunning indeed!
Andy
Small d capital H two l’s
deHavilland 🙂
They really are lovely.
Thanks for the great photos.
Andy
The tardy thread that just keeps, on, giving…….
Thanks Flyernzl 🙂
Great stuff! Lovin’ it.
Andy
I’ll have to say, that I am more than willing to forgive the tardiness, for a post of such excellent quality. 🙂
Seriously, thanks for that.
These folks must have a total blast!
The bang for the buck factor is huge compared to WWII machines.
With enough work and dedication an enthusiast could build one of these and have a riot.
I’d like to know what the DVII has up front for power. Gipsy VI? Ranger?
Also love the Albatross. I never thought one of those would grace the skies again. Never mind several.
Thanks again
The ones with the tail skids are especially cool!
Andy
Looks and sounds amazing!
As always Matthias, thanks to you for posting and please pass along my congratulations to the hard working artisans that bring these amazing machines back to life.
Can’t be too long before there is wind under her wheels!
I bet it fetches well north of $500K !
Andy
Wow.
What a fantastic and unique vantage point.
Thanks
Andy
Thanks for the reply.
I was joking the other day with a co-worker.
We were talking about Pneumatic vs hydraulic systems regarding looking for leaks.
I commented that it’s pretty hard to look for a puddle of air. 🙂
Andy
Thanks for that Mk 12
I have a question.
At about :50 seconds in to the video I can see the right hand flap deployed and the left hand flap retracted.
How is that possible and how abnormal is it?
Andy
Ooh, nice!
Thanks for that.
Andy
Yeah Firebird!
If you ever want rid of that, I’d be happy to put it on my wall! 🙂
Andy
A certain “book” states that the plan was to restore to static.
Unless things have changed, I’d go with that.
BTW, which Mosquito is MK959 referring to?
Thanks
Andy
Let’s not forget the Typhoon project in Canada being built to airworthy standards, although it has very little publicity it is moving forward very nicely.
Ian, I’m a Canadian, and this is the first I’ve heard of this project. As a matter of fact I’ve not thought of much else all day 🙂
Really looking forward to any info you have to share regarding such an exciting prospect.
Thanks
Andy Scott
