Will there be an event at Biggin Hill?
Seems a logical place to hold an airshow if only the owners would permit.
The Biggin Hill Festival of Flight is being staged with the BoB 75th anniversary featuring on Saturday 13th June .
Hopefully with vastly improved traffic flow.
I’m very sad to hear about the Kenley news, it is a lovely airfield with a lovely atmosphere.
Beautiful shots and a fantastic job by all at the ARCo.
Was JR at the helm? Yes he was, edited to say I just read Elliotts superb write up on GAR!
Great photos with the write up too.
Fantastic!
I echo rutleys sentiments too.
That actual F4U4 was the first warbird I ever got to sit in, almost exactly 26 years ago at Biggin Hill.
Is that Parky from BBMF?
Yes. As far as I know ,TD is owned by Keith Perkins who has started Aerolegends at Headcorn.
Parky was mentioned on their website.
Maybe he is planning for life after the BBMF?
Did the original GZ-L have a DH or Rotol prop?;)
A superb write up and photos Elliott.
I’m so glad the weather held on Sunday, it was an unforgettable experience.
Great video links Bradburger and BHHH,thanks for posting.
I’d personally like to see the Beaufighter fly but as has been said engines (Hercules) are hard to come by and the Beau is about the only aircraft not to have benefited from the ‘Midas touch ‘ of the RR Merlin, the few Merlin engined Beaus were less than impressive.
TD314 went down and back to Headcorn.
Brian
I’m sure TD314 belongs to Keith Perkins of Aero Legends at Headcorn .
Well done to everyone at the BHHH for staging this flypast it was a great spectacle !
So glad the weather was kind.
Thanks for posting the photos.
Why can’t this P-51D be exhibited at ground level?
Because it Must ‘ang !!
I’m sure there was an 8th Air Force P-51 named “One Must Hang” ?
Wonder if that was Ed Shipleys old P51?
Lovely shots, nice to see some SEA photos of AAR from the boom ops position.
Fantastic programme.
Wasn’t sure how to take Guy initially but ten minutes in I was loving his enthusiasm and thanking God for presenters like him .
I know they are from different professional backgrounds, but Guy is a gazillion times better than the personality free Dan Snow.
The Spitfire project turned out to be a beauty as we have seen this year at Duxford and Old Warden.
Great programme Channel 4 and I appreciated the extra length………stop sniggering at the back !
