Well I can think of one farm less than 6 miles from my house which is rumoured to have 5 aircraft in a building there.

    Hey Yak 11,

Whats keeping my boy I would be off to the Farm as soon as I could get the Car out of the Park.

Here in Maine I always had heard about a Cessena T-50 sitting in a Barn so I went and check it out finally and I missed the Bloody thing by Two Frecking Hours. 😡

It never hurts to go look, we found a B-17 in a Junk Yard in Northern Maine 😮

    Cheers

    Hey Warbirdnut,

Please don’t go I almost left but recieved a rather nice e-mail from one of the Moderators, and I’ve decide to post. Now for what Mustangman saw and heard is just that he witness what happen when the plane left.

It like what I posted on Mike Potters Spit prang. I saw it heard and doc. the recovery and talked with Mr.Potter about what happen and reported what I saw and heard.

Now Mustangman reported what he saw and heard and Warbirdnut came along and inserted the correct information. So my Question to all of you is whats the problem.

As for the question about what happens to airframes that have been involved in fatals is a tricky one that needs to be worded the right way.Example( What happen to Ed Steads Hunter after it Crash at Manchaster NH) there its not to hard of a question simply put and should get a straight answer which for this crash is after the FAA and insurance company got done with the Airframe Ed sold it.

Anyway thats my two and half cents US. maybe the moderator should lock this thread

    Turbo,

I’m not sure maybe Mark12 could answer that question, I know there was a sound differance with the two Spits. I’m not sure if this was the engines or the props.

    Hi All,

I guess I should jump in here the photo of Mike potters Spit that I posted on the Spit got Prang before I get accussed of anything before I post the photo I spoke with Mr. Potter and got his permission, I also made sure before I posted anything on the incedent I got the OK from Mr.Potter. Even thou he was still alittle pived about the props he gave me the OK. So I just post the straight facts as I saw them Sat. morning.

Now for tragic crashs I lost my Fiancee to a T-6 crash and you damn sure I wanted to know what happen and what became of the wreckage. The question of what happens to varoius wreckages after the Insurance and FAA/CAA get done with them are legitament ones just as long as we ask what happen to the remains and don’t go off on a tangint about the accident That is when people get offended, I know that after Erin crash I was really ****ed at the local News reports and as Moggy stated I went and Search out the SOB and let her know how I felt about the article.

I guess in closing we live in a information time, I know within 3 hours of the CAF Red Tail Crash the wix forum had all the info. including Doug R. leaving a quick post about the statues of the pilot. I think we need to be carefull on how we tone the post.

Sorry about the long post guys.

    Andy,

Of all the planes the HU-16 was the close to the Tower. The B-25 had more then anothe roll for take off. The Corsairs and the TBM just jumped off the Deck.

If I can get some photos from one of the guys I’ll post them the best one I saw was the shot of the Corsair going over the Bow, this shot is taken with the Corsair just overhead.

    Cheers

    Andy,

We were on the USS Carl Vinson CVN-70 The Golden Eagle, this was also the same carrier that the Discovery channel did the show on. I think the show was call Carreirs Fortress at Sea. In one of the scenes a 14 does a super-sonic fly-by and eats a n engine I got to meet the crew of this plane.

Also on board was VA-95 Fist of the Fleet who were still flying A-6 these are the guys who did all of the Stuff for The Flight of the Intruder movie and this was there second to last cruise before the A-6 were Decond.

As I stated before this was one of magor highlight of my life. I have ben able to see two of the three modern Warbird Carrier lanchs. The first being the 50anv. of Doolittle raid off the USS Ranger with 2 B-25 and the 50 anv. of the end of WWII off the Carl Vincen. I missed the third one in SanFran. this was during Fleet Week in 95 also the on board the Carl Vincen.

    Cheers

    Turbo,

If I remember right the hub wasn’t that heavy with out the blades in it, also we had five guys working on the Prop plus a stand up mini-cran thanks to the US Navy.

    Turbo,

If I remember right the blades were all # , the ones we had were just for show they were’nt airworthy. The hardest part was standing the bloody thing up so we could get the sling around it and hoist it back onto the prop shaft. If I remmeber right there was No metal found in any of the screens but I think the shaft was slightly out of line. i do know the blades were toast. O think we left one of the blades on board for the crew to cut down and put in their display case.

    Cheers

    Hey Turbo,

No problem, I wish I could post some pics but all of my stuff was losty in a barn firer, I’ve made contact with some of the guys who were their so maybe they can get me some stuff.

I would love to have a photo of us changing the Prop on the TBM, all the Mechs. were quite amazed that we were Man-Handling the Prop off. I was sitting up on top of the Engine smacking the blade with a rubber hammer when some safety guy come along and tells me I should be have a Brain bucket on well that got a laught out of all of us because all I had on was a pair of work shorts and Boots. The funny part was when we went to put together the new prop we laid out the blades and the hub and we had this LT ask if we need a pully to put the blades in, were the owner took him aside and explain that these things are down with are hands. The Mechs. enjoy are little impromp school of prop assembly.

    Cheers

    Hi Turbo,

Watching the HU take off was alittle nerve racking I think if the grey matter right we must have pick up to 25 knots for her.

After the HU took off the two F/A-18 and the -4 did a fly by followed by the Gooses and the TBM with the FM-2 and SNJ then came the B-25 along and final Shipley in the FG. After that was over we have about 15 USAF/USN aircraft do a fly over.

As we enter Pearl Harbor the whole crew lined the deck as we past the USS Arizonia the 25s and corsairs did a Missing Man and we on Deck threw out a Lau.

The whole time we were there, I think we flew four to five hops a day. Everyone in their brother wanted Formation shots. I remember when we were doing the Fly-Over at Wheeler Field with the 25s we had a Coast guard C-130 pull up next to us for some impromp formation flying. The Carl Vincen was used as a flooting review stand and for two hours straight all sorts of ships and Aircraft passed in review. One of the Highlights was the Mass formation we had over the USS Arizonia. Can you picture 11 warbirds in a right hand turn over Pearl Harbor when we got call down for are Fly-By we drop down to 500AGL head straight toward Diamond Head then took a hard right hand turn over the Beach and head straight towards the Carly V turn another hard right passed her on her Left side then head down the Beach breaking off into varoius Formations for the return to Barbers Point.

I know the guys with the Gooses did some splash and dashs near Ford Island and Mr. Beatra beat up the North Shore real good. Mr.Shipley put on a great display everyday, We flew two Airshows a day one Mid-Morning and another Mid-Afternoon, when we were’nt at Barbers we had planes at Wheeler, Hickam for the dances.

Like I said before this was one the Highlights of my 37 years on this Earth.

    Cheers

    Hi Turbo,

No the B-25 did’nt need that much Deck for the Take Off we had about 20Knots across the Bow. The Following Planes were on the trip

    B-25J In The Mood
    B-25J Buck U
    B-25J Pacific Princess
    2 TBM
    FG-1D
    F4U-4
    2 JRF Gooses
    1 SNJ
    1 HU-16
    1 FM-2

Of these planes one of the TBM took a prop strike during the Take Off trails and it was decied to bring her and have her on the Deck for the Festivitys

The FM-2 is the CAF bird that is now painted in FAA/RN colors.

As for take off the only hairy one was when Mr. Beatra flying his -4 drifted alitle to the left on take off and almost took out a camera person. The HU-16 used the most of the Deck almost the total 800 feet, of the 3 B-25 Wally Fisk had Buck U off just before the mid-section of the Tower matter of fact he dragged the skid-plate and for the rest of the time their we all called him Pop Wally.

Right after the last 25 took off the VFA-113 did a Hot Cat shot, this is when they bring up two 18 already running and put them straight onto the Cat 3&4 for a side by side launch. That was real impressive and there were alot of us who could have watch that all day long.

For all of us who were on the Carrier it was nice to be able to let are Men and Women who defend are Freedom to sit and fly along with the warbirds. We were hanger in #1 Hanger or V-Section 1. I remember being on watch at 1AM and having all sorts of people come down.

All and All its ranks up as one of the most enjoyable times I have ever had.

    Cheers

    Hi Turbo,

The B-25 is Pacific Princess, the shot was taken during the Carrier Trails for the 50th Anv. of the end of WWII. Both the 25 and Shipleys Corsair took off the Deck.

I was on board for the flight, once in a life time event.

    Cheers

    Hi All,

Just got off the phone with a friend who said there might be a chance that Mr.Potter has sorced some blades in the UK. He didn’t know all the details yet.
