God are we still crying over this one, look it comes down to this the OWNER elect to keep the cover on because by the sounds of it it was a rather hot day and didn’t want to fry anything inside the cockpit.

If you really must have a photo of this machine then heres an idea track down the home airport send a request to the owner about stopping by and get some photos.

    Ok Now,

Back on the subject, Yesterday I was watching Speed Channel and they had an update on this whole mess and it seems that no US Track wants to pick up the F1 race for next year.

Also in the same story they where talking bout NASCAR looking into holding races in mexico,Canadia and hold onto your hats my UK friends two or three in the UK.

Now I know that NASCAR has been talking about doing more stuff in North America and that they even had a chance to do some stuff in Aussie Land. My dad who does stuff with NH Motor Speed Way home of two NASCAR races told me that the whole F1 farce has been the talk of the big wigs with-in NASCAR.

Someone ask why doesn’t a NASCAR driver like Jeff Gordon or Jr go drive for F1 I can answer that with one simple work Money. These guys make far more Money driven NASCAR then they would ever with F1.

The bottom line is F1 has been on the decline here in the States for the past 10 years and this is just a sad way for it to end.

    Restart,

If you ever really want to see alot of Smoke Burners all together then you should come over to the States when we have are yearly Jet gathering.

I’m not sure where this years get together is maybe Steve P. can shed some light since he owns a Mig17 and a L39.

While on the subject of the P-59 I was doing some wreck research and came across this little item.

    P-59B 44-22638
Crashed 17 Miles South West of Arkadelphia Ark. USA

As I read this I found out this plane was never recovered and their is a better then 70% chance this might still be out their, anayone up for a romp thru the foot hills of Arkansas.

Looks like it’s a side-by-side biplane so my first guess would be a Waco of some sort.

Was it a military aircraft at some stage ?

    TNZ

Non-Military, not a Waco,Chris I told you I would get you back for the Wix Test :diablo:

    Its Not a Fury,

Look under the fus. I’m guessing a Blackburd build aircraft.

Also if this is from the same batch of photos Mk12 has put up earlier then time period has to be early 60s.

    Ok Folks,

Since we want the Curret Oldest Airworthy Jet then JT old F3 then a certain T-33A 49-0884 would be the second oldest I believe then either POF Mk3 which I think is keep in airworthy status or Mk3 RCAF 17031 which I undertsand is flying please correct me if I’m wrong.

Now if we want to expain this topic in about a year the POF P-59 will be the oldest flying Jet. Followed by I think Kermits Meteor when he decides to put it into the air.

Also how many of the early Russian Build Mig15s can hold the title of oldest Airworthy Jet. Iknow that their was someone doing research on all the early Migs that came out of the Iron Curtain and I think one or two where found to be Korean War Vets.

    Makes for an interesting topic.

The P38 is a late model Lightning, probably an F5G Recce bird. Didn’t Spartan Executive have a few of those that did a lot of mapping in Canada etc?

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

Look at the cowling again these are from a E model and the nose package is not the type Hurd used, they had a more rounded package.

Maybe Mk12 can give us the writing on the tail so we can cross match it.

Do you have the serial number? I believe Ray Sturtivant and Mick Burrows raided the archives for Air Britains Fleet Air Arm Aircraft 1939-1945, and since quite a lot of the aircraft have no final fate attached it might make it difficult for you.

    Flood

    Hi Flood,

Yes I have the serial # as a matter of fact I got it out of Rays book we where have a heck of a time finding out which bird it was, The problem is in Rays book all it list is the accident and nothing else .

I know from past experiance that the Squadron Logs and Aircraft data logs give final disp. we have a general idea where the wreck is but I would like to get the accident report and aircraft cardfor referance. For the recordits in fresh water here in Maine and is in about 50 feet of water a rather easy haul if we decide to go after it. Right now we just want to find it and have a good look at it then see what the State will say about recovering it.

    Cheers
