Ah, The Bump, but what if Berlin Express or Frenesi stay here instead?!
Andrew, when do the advanced ticket sales close? I’ve family who’re still undecided, so it’d be good to know. Thank you, Kurt
The grass strip and section of runway are on the same level, so it’s a decent length already. The Pantons have a plan to extend it I believe. JJ is still a way off flight, so not a huge problem yet.
Threats to damage the aeroplane? Harm personnel?
I’m a bit of a latecomer to the party, and wonder what EK offers that the YAM didn’t?
I wish them luck with it anyway, what an achievement. Oh and Matt, please say Hi to Keith B from me (Kurt) if your paths cross again, I worked with him at BBMF.
I’m not on Facebook so what were the sinister surroundings regarding the move?
Those are some desperately ugly, tacky t-shirts. Tasteless tat knocked together for chavs and the Britain First crowd, and probably made somewhere in the third world by children.
I fail to see the connection between this rubbish and historic aviation, beyond one of the t-shirts featuring a couple of biplanes.
You’re the one talking about Britain First. Isn’t that the precursor to the Blenheim?!!! Surely that’s a link to historic aviation.
So, they’re made by children eh? Quite an assumption really, but if they are, and the kids are the only members of the household that can work, what then? While you sit against your warm keyboard in your pleasant home tittle tattling, then rest safe in the knowledge that your life is somewhat better than theirs.
Honestly, this forum! Why are so many people so easily offended?! It’s a website selling thought provoking but somewhat tacky merchandise (though the T shirt with the little girl saying “Don’t go Daddy” was a little close to home), but it’s link to historic aviation is somewhat tenuous, but not massively inappropriate.
I’m generalising when I say I think MANY regulars on here are either millennials, or very old, such is the ease of offence or rebuke.
Seeing them both together was the first time I noted Doc was bereft of turrets. I thought it was just the polished skin that made it look sleek, but now I know!
Calm down dear!
Same reason that most other modern aircraft do: strength, ease of manufacture, repairability…it goes on. Strange question – like asking why some aircraft have swept wings.
That’s a bad analogy. Swept wings provide lateral stability around the longitudinal axis (and lots of pressure equations to do with Reynolds numbers, and Mach related phenomena, before the real experts pipe up)!
The Bump. Tell us more about “the average brain dead RIAT punter”.
I preferred it on a pole at Sealand. Just kidding, but TD248 looked less ‘plastic’ before all its rivets were so heavily painted. Give us some texture back you painters… 🙂
Metal was more plentiful in America.
Neighbours are kicking off…
The only agreement with TFC and the unfortunate pilots family was that it wouldn’t be rebuilt. Seeing a
chunk of wing for sale would indicate they’re good to their word.
