Yes, correct this is one of the very few remaining Messier undercarriage castings still around today. The Halifax III, serial MZ763 of 78 squadron was shot down and crashed just inside Dutch territory behind a farmhouse. The farmer managed to retrieve this undercarriage together with something else (of which I am sworn with secrecy) and erected it as a monument to the crew. It is still there and the farmers son doesn’t want to let it go. I tried, but I took something else of this aircraft with me which might find it’s way far west soon.

Thanks for your comment. I aim to build the cockpit compartment with flight engineers section (only) because of the space needed. And it needs to be an affordable project spread over many years as well.

Yes there were two adverts, one claiming that a throttle box had been obtained from a museum and not dug up. It was priced at 65 gbp 😮
I had just started to get involved with historic aviation not knowing that I would need such a thing someday. There was another advert in the early nineties, I tried to track down the addresses and telephone numbers but without success.

Yes I know, I have been looking hard for a throttle box, but they must be even rarer as hen’s teeth. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any lurking somewhere. I recentely located an original Halifax instrument panel, flight engineers panel and a lot of bits and I hope to acquire these. I have heard some rumours these past years about throttle boxes but nothing “true”. As you well know yourself perseverance will pay off in the end (hopefully).
I am interested in that Halifax AMI, could you e-mail me off board so we can discuss this further? I might have something interesting for you.

Well that’s the end of my Bolingbroke project then. I was trying to get
some reasonable priced transport but the price you mention is a lot of euro’s. I think I can better spend some of that in trying to obtain the original Halifax instrument en flight engineers panels I recently located.
Pity as the Boly cockpit is a very nice and compact and very significant display item in it’s own right. I wish your project every succes and may she be brought back to full health soon. I know there is another project going on in the UK to try to obtain a Boly cockpit from Canada.

You are a wise man to make sure the rudder pedals and seat are included in the deal. I myself had made some enquiries earlier this year to obtain a Bolingbroke cockpitsection from Vince O’Connor in Canada to bring to Holland for restoration. Provided that a seat, rudder pedals and control column were present.
I put the project on hold recently as transportation was a problem. How did you arrange for transportation and does your cockpit have a control column?
