I think the Bristol Brigand is at the Bristol Collection, same airfield as the Science Museum storage collection (forget the name, will come back to me any second). Think it was rescued from a scrapyard, would be nice to have it restored though
I think you will find the Brigand is still owned by the scrapyard owner (of the ex. failsworth yard, Manchester)
Have a look at this former thread
Failsworth scrapyard
as for other a/c being put together from parts , yes they should be, complete a/c are better than scattered parts !
Guys, here is the scheme I’ve chosen for my B-26. CO’s aircraft of 13th BS Korea circa 1952. :diablo:
An excellent choice O.D., please take care of the ‘6th Chadwick’ , we wouldn’t want it to end up like the original !
P.S.I hope you don’t look anything like the 13th’s mascot ‘Oscar’ 🙂
So true Moggy, 30 years ago (& 30 before that was the end of WWII ! ) at the IAT at Greenham Common it was, oh no not another F-104 (or F-100 ) display, let alone how many from how many different airforces in the static line ups. A great aircraft looking in a similar sad state to the one at Lasham.
‘FLAK BAIT’ a B-26 with 202 missions in the Smithsonian museum still has her original paint, just as she should.
I have just remembered seeing a pic. of one in Cyprus (no not one of those 2) in a newspaper a few years ago (3/4 ?)in an article about the division between north & south, it was in the ‘buffer zone’ between north & south, complete , on its belly, covered in graffiti, still there ?

Thought you guys might be interested in seeing some pics of a B-17 crash I recently hiked into. It appears we found only one wing and lacking time, gave up the search for the rest….it will save an adventure for a later date!
The last one is looking at the hill (left side) where the wing was found with my little brother looking worried that we were going to miss his uni graduation!!
I’ve got a couple more and could post larger ones if requested, just realized i shrunk them quite a bit.
IIRC I’ve seen pics. of this before with a larger section of wing as well, I think it was in Scandinavia ?
Martin
Yep – there is only one. See if we can think how many are preserved:
2 at Paphos
1 at Coventry
1 in the USA (Airworthy still?)
1 at Newark
1 at Long Stratton
Fuselage at Wisbech
1 at Duxford
1 at Manchester
Nose at Newark (?)Plus 2 or 3 in South Africa
I think thats it?

Long Sratton ?
As you had already mentioned Long marston perhaps you meant that one ? or is it anther one ?
Martin
Thanks Mark/Mike
That all makes sense,
unless you were at Reno TBO’s would make big $$$$$ sense.
Thanks
Martin
…………Best chance is Steve’s ‘under the sand’ hypothesis.
Cheers
Well, if ” up to 30 airframes ” can still exist on an old German airfield in the libyan desert (apparently Sat. pics have been seen to prove), then one or more other aircraft existing is a distinct possibility, so hopefully a Baltimore will rise up out of the desert in the future.

Hi Martin
Gues who’s battery run out on my camera on saturday!!
I would k*ll for a picture of Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown sitting in my Hornet F.1 cockpit. I wont say too much on this forum, because I believe that the Hornet 50th anniversary re-union will be officially covered by the “other” magazine, but it was a great event, much enjoyed by all in attendance.
I’ll let you know in a few minutes as I’m about to download the pics. from my camera !
I was going to post some pics. of the event, shouldn’t be a problem even if the ‘other’ mag. is doing an article should it ??? anybody have any views ???
A memorable event, thanks to all involved
Martin
Thanks indeed, but do say hello next time!!
Bruce
Bruce

PS – I’m being rather thick today – but what is PH ??
No , not thick, I took “In a previous thread in a universe far, far away…………….” to mean non aircraft/military & as the exact same subject has just been discussed on PH ‘PistonHeads’ (a sportscar group forum) I guessed..wrongly 😮
Martin
Hi All
I’m coming over to England with some F-5000 cars from New Zealand for two race meetings, Brands Hatch Superprix, 22, 23 and 24th of July 2005 and Silverstone Historic 29, 30, 31 July 2005.
Alex
Do you need any extra pit crew ? 🙂
At the top of Skyraiders ‘multimap’ pages, click on ‘directions’ for distance & time between locations.

In a previous thread in a universe far, far away…………….
They were saying that when the Dam Busters film was shown on TV these days, they dubbed the word ‘Nigger’ with ‘Digger’ – ‘cos Nigger was non-PC.
Ken
Ken
