…….also, the Anson has met some stars in her time with the company, who is this trying to steal her limelight at Rome airport? (I had to look twice when i was shown it 😀 )
I think its a Yank from the southern states, as one of his mates chews baca.
Like what Mark12 said: a trade name for “…wooden multi laminations scarfed together, all bonded in resin adhesives and heat cured under controlled compression.”

March ’44, one was deployed to the U.K. on a allied ‘familiarization tour’, actually a decoy to get the enemy to think that the B-29’s were going to be used in Europe

Samual Cody tested a bi-plane fitted with floats on Eelmoor Flash in 1913.
Where is Eelmoor Flash?? I have looked around Farnborough but cannot locate it!! Anna  Anna 😉 😀
Anna
Eelmoor is the canal area to the south of the airfield, the canal has a large basin there, ideal to see if your airplane floats 🙂

Anyone want 4 perfectly good 3350 engines and 4 useable props? You know where to look….just hop on over to Greenland.
M
IIRC the engines were recovered soon after, I think they were only on loan for the flight ?
There was a guy with a trade stand at Fairford about 10 years ago who was selling off bits of engine, mostly small & polished piston & cylinder pieces for keyrings .I wanted a compleat & unpolished piston which he said he could supply, he never got back to me
Here’s a quicky that I’ve been meaning to post for a while.
This was taken by me on a trip around the south of England with a couple of other N.A.P.S. members in about 1968.
For the life of me I cannot recall where it was and there aren’t many clues in the photo but I have a feeling it was Skylines at Camberley.
But don’t quote me…
Yep, that looks like Skylines, at least when I was there in about ’76-’78 a T-6/Harvard looking like that was in there (also up against the fence), during my (uninvited) visit there was barely space to move as the yard was packed with Venom/Vampire parts as well, my Dad at one time worked in an office overlooking the yard & said wings standing upright against the fence looked like Hornet wings (he worked on Hornets in the RAF). IIRC the T-6/Harvard has/is beeing restored & W&R said the other parts were moved to Hays when Skylines was sold, any further info on the parts ? especialy the wings ?
If only it was at Blackbush, White waltham or Booker
