Pics. of N5232V at Gatwick on arivale in the UK.
B17 at Gatwick
+ the next 2 pics. on Airliners.net of the same plane
……. Just as an aside the low flying sequence where Steve McQueen buzzes the airfield was actually done, not a camera trick – now that is flying.
As in this pic. on an RAF Bovingdon page
Low flying B-17
Thanks for that Mark, great suff, I’m sure most on hear will enjoy it.
, there is the awesome example called Flak Bait at the Smithsonian in Washington – whats great is the whole plane is in here original chipped , worn and faded paint scheme – truly awesome
With 202 combat missions !!! to her credit, even ‘truly awesome’ is an understatment.
I’m glad to hear she is still ‘tatty’ & not in new factory fresh paint (restored).
– there are 3 B35’s in Canada, and none of them fit the bill.

Hi. Sorry but the first pic is definitly the wrong way round.
Phil :)[/QUOTE]
Hi Phil
I could well be wrong, if so why ?
Just supposing the photo has not been reverse printed. Could this be a Gladiator propeller fitted to the Hurricane perhaps for ground training?

Looking very closely, trying to decide which way round the pic. is , there appears to be no pilots ‘hatch’ as fitted on the starboard side, also there could be (just visible ?) a ‘sprung step up panel’ (if that’s what it is) halfway between the canopy & the wing, which would be on the port side.
So I would say that your pic. was the right way round as first posted

Couldn’t find any rear seat ballast ? 😀 😀 😀
Cleaner/polisher/photographer/gofer, also suitable as rear seat ballast available.
Lots of taildragging experience in low performance warbird, err.. …. ok trainer 🙂
P.S. great pics, PLEASE keep them coming, I’ll never tire of them
No standard camouflage, single colour on Hurri ? Rudder coloured, guns well used but now covered in upper colour.
Hudson after Mar ’41,start of lease lend serials (EAxxx)
Jumo 222A-3 engine with a take-off rating of 3,000hp……. 😀
Would be quicker with a production Sabre VII, 3,500 BHP (+ a test engine at 4,000 BHP) 🙂
Sabre power Fury
or Napier’s own racer with a Sabre, did it ever fly, IIRC maybe a few times from Heston ( was it called the Heston Racer ?)
Any way, the Sabre was the most powerful production engine(Hp per CC) so should power any of the aircraft mentioned in this thread 🙂
I sometimes buy a copy of ‘Motorsport’, the classic racing car magazine, and always go first to the huge classified section to imagine spending hypothetical  thousands!
You & me to 🙂
Try Rod Brown through his web site , he seems to know most things chippy

Great photo – and that’s no small facility – I note a second Sunderland behind the first.
