Perhaps it was closed because it had degenerated into nonsense – as so many threads seem to.
Merlin3945, I don’t think it was you that caused the thread closure.
I think people would actually need a “repercushion” if they are weak and spineless.; they’ll need the support. 😀
“Rules are made for the guidance of wise men, and the obediance of fools.”
That quote is probably the biggest load of tripe going. It is used by those who like breaking rules and if it did come from Bader, look where breaking those “rules” got him.

It would appear that you think every you don’t agree with is “P.C.”. Don’t use swearing in your post. It’s in the rules.

No problem SH.

Linc – that is a helpful response to Arthur’s point about PC not affecting our daily lives. In your case it definitey did. I should be interested in his comment, if he cares to respond.
I am not one of those, like many others, who runs away from a thread and to be honest I’m not sure I care for the insinuation.
Lincoln, this must have been awful for you, imagine going to all those lengths of having flap-pole installed in your garden, buying a flag and putting it up only to have a council official telling you have to take it down. It’s good that you’ve kept your celebration of Nigel Mansell’s victory alive by keeping your flag flying. Strangely enough, I’m a proud Brit as well but don’t feel it necessary to fly a flag – maybe that’s just me.
and definately not your average sheelah as i can vouch from dating ausie chicks !!
No, you’re not PC at all are you.
Sorry, Tornado – nothing personal but your arguments become more confusing with each post.
I’ll drop out of this thread before it’s too late…..not sure if it’s got anywhere to go anyway……
Indeed, and if GA had been here he would goaded, provoked, deleted and locked by now.:)

All I’m saying is that effect of PC is vastly overblown for most people. It really doesn’t have a great influence over most people’s lives. Of course if anyone wants to get all steamed up over these things that don’t really affect them, then that is up to them.

I thought I recognised the condescending rhetoric – you were one of those faceless PC lecturers from my courses, weren’t you? Did you eventually find a humour transplant donor?
If I were a cynic, I’d suspect most purveyors of ‘PC’ were also members of the shady ‘Common Purpose’ organisation, determined to undermine UK and western productivity…
I would suggest that your subtitle would appear to suit you well. Your lack of respect for others and their opinions is very clear – you must be a joy to work with.
Anyway, back to the thread.
Who is arguing otherwise?
What people are arguing about is the extent to which it is being applied, how it is affecting daily lives. People are moaning about H&S for the same reasons.
Several have talked about name-calling – all I’m saying is that there a bit more to it than that.
Maybe there could be examples of just how PC (what the thread is about) really affects your daily life in a detrimental fashion. I would be interested if it really has any sort of effect at all.
Health and safety (not what the thread is about) does affect daily lives – otherwise there wouldn’t be any point in it. I’ve seen the result of one too many accidents to ever think that H&S regulations are a bad thing.

Health and safety has nothing to do with offending anyone. The regulations were put in place to stop stupid people doing stuff with scant regard for their’s or other’s safety.
PC was designed to show respect for other’s background and cultures. I’m still struggling to see what is actually wrong with that. It is rather more involved than name-calling as well.
I suspect rumours about stopping putting up Christmas lights are just that – rumours with little substance in fact. Nobody as far as I’m aware has been punished for putting up flags either.
How exactly does PC invoke racial hatred? The false reporting (by such as the Daily Hate) of spurious PC stories may have that effect but actual political correctness? I don’t think so.
