The aircraft crash landed in Derbyshire
The aicraft looks to have an extra plexiglass fairing behind the main bomb aimers transparency which does not appear on earlier Lancasters. Does that provide a clue?
Some observations which hopefully the Bomber Command experts here can expand on.
This seems to be a well experienced crew even by Pathfinder standards – mostly officers & a Flight Lieutenant captain. The Navigator looks like he’s got the old “O” observers badge, and there seems to be a couple of decorations.
Also very mixed services – not sure about this, but are there not at least three different uniforms there?
Does the plexiglass bubble addition under the nose help to date the picture?
Compare & contrast with “Das Boot”….
Quick Google revealed this:

About halfway down seems to be what you are looking for
“Battle of Britain then & Now” has a list off all B of B pilots. There are two Spencers, but neither have the initials you are looking for.
Allan – Thanks for the answer. The serial is indistinct, but could well be as you have said Rgds Ian
Further to above, I found the original auction entry from last year. As you can see the original estimate was well out:
Lot Number 321
Description A group of five World War II medals awarded to F/Lt Albert William Edward Peter Cartwright 1382479 RAF to include; Distinguished Flying Cross(copy), Distinguished Flying Medal(copy), 1939-1945 Star, The Defence Medal and War Medal together with riband bars, two Flying Log Books, Photo Album covering his period with 106 Bomber Squadron, Instruction Manuals, Photos and Newspapers Cuttings relating to 106 Bomber Squadron, Donald Campbell, Guy Gibson, BBC News Cameraman’s Work and Award, Family and related material and artefacts Estimate – 200-300
I was the underbidder when this was sold at a standard auction last year. A great log book with a lot of other stuff as well – it went for about £1200 so he’s going to make a good profit if he sells it!
“Thanks for the replys, at some stage though, someone must have put a figure on the cost of each aircraft, “
I have spent twenty years working on aircraft contracts with MoD and I can tell you that they would still be hard pressed to figure the cost per aircraft due to issues such as ELS, set up costs paid separately etc etc.
I believe there was an article in “AP Monthly” which had a map of VI landing sites.
What kind of series was Airline. Drama, comedy, etc???
Newly-discharged from the RAF after World War II, Jack Ruskin, a blunt no-nonsense Yorkshireman, decides to set up his own airline, Ruskin Air Services. Something of an idealist, Jack is prepared to bend every rule in the book to achieve his goal of flying a Dakota once again. He soon does a deal with Ernie Cade, a notorious spiv who can lay his hands on any item of war surplus – for the right price – and then enlists Peter Witney as co-pilot and Jock McEvoy as maintenance engineer. But his long absences start to put a strain on his relationship with Jennie, his girlfriend.
Thanks very much for info – there were some other pics with it which were clearly naval aircraft, so I made a (wrong!) assumption
