If its a TV with a built in freeview Scott, try a different feed in (DVD, blu ray etc) if the picture quality is the same its probably the TV thats faffed or needs adjusting, check next door, if they have the same, its the signal.

Clearing out my parents house for the last time today. We have put box after box of things through the local hospice shop, e-bayed all sorts (trains, Eddie Stobart lorries, Royal Dalton bits and pieces) to raise funds for them as well.

But so much just went straight into bin bags today…… and I left my keys there and drove away for the last time.

Sunrise, sunset and all that, a couple will move in, and start their own life soon, good luck to them, but it was a very bitter sweet way to spend the day.

Quite a few ghosts in the older postings….

Ren Frew, Mark9…… where are they now…..?

In my youth, a scholl friends parents owned a shop with offices above. During the Civil War it was one of three local pubs (as the building was then) that were used to store and transport supplies to Basing house, then under siege by Cromwell.

The building was said to be haunted, if ever there were problems or arguments shelves would break over night, stock would be thrown around. One Sunday we were painting the outside of the shop, two lads, some cold beers, music on, lots of noise etc. I was in the rear store room, my mate was outside in the shop. It was a warm summers afternoon. Suddenly, a cold wind went through that made my hair stand up, and all three doors between me and the shop slammed in sequence. “Something” passed through the shop at speed. There was no wind, it was warm, so it wasn’t the weather.

My mates dad said that we disturbed the ghost by being noisy…….

    With that I totally agree.

And to answer Lincoln 7’s question – if I had “millions” as he put it I would spend it on many things as well as giving some away. In my limited experience, thankfully, of people dying from an incurable disease there is not a great deal that large amounts of money, let alone small amounts, can do. My father died of cancer over several weeks in a hospice where the care was unsurpassable and it cost nothing. Likewise my aunt and uncle. No amount of money would have improved those last weeks of their lives.

My condolences to you, both of my parents died of cancer in the local hospice. The care that they both had there, with the dignity and respect far exceeded what the NHS trust could have offered (they are just not set up for it) and while I agree with you that no money could improve the last weeks of their lives, funding the hospice improves the quality of those last weeks, and supports the families as well, they treated us as “patients” as well, supporting us in our grief, concern and anger.
