It sit in about 2meters of water if that the crew survived they basically wade to the shore.

I know that as late as 79 it was still out their my dad told me that they would us it for Nav, checks when they went Downunder.

So maybe one of are Aussie/NZ guys can do a recon flight.

To be honmest I thought it was developed into the SBD Dauntless.
The Northrop BT-1 had bad handling traits and no wing folding provision. Douglas sorted this out. You can see the similarities in the tail surface.
