Hey Guys,
Go over to warbird resource group click on the Nav-Ops board and you will be able to read all about Mr.Crally and the Navy.
Flood,
I quess that the Million Dollar Question. I’ve sent an e-mail to Rep. Jones R-NC to thank him for his help and to see if he is going to look into introducing a Bill to force the Navy to change its Policy.
I got an e-mail from Rep. “Duke” Cunninghams office staing he was looking into the Navy policys also.
So lets hope this is the beginning of something good.
Well,
I saw another veiw of Dans flight taken by the Blue Angles Video Operator, Dan had a good 25 feet above the ditch between the Runways. I talk with the BA vid guy and the FAA safty guy went over to Dan right after he landed and they had a Talk. They review the BA video. One thing that was discussed and TN you can verfie this was their was alot micro-shears from the West end of the runway. Even the Blues and Snowbirds were having some minor problems with it.
So I guess it was’nt Dan fault after-all. Yes Dan fly’s for a living he is a Senior Delta Capt. and yes I would put my life in his hands any day of the Year.
I’ve know Dan for almost 20 years, he was one of the first person to pay attention to me and my little old L-4 that I used to own. Plus he gave me some pointers on how to handle it in certain cross-wind landings.
People make mistakes I myself have been quity of trying to push it alittle to far or doing something dumb we learn and over-come.
Stieglitz,
I think you way out of line here you don’t know the pilot and I think you owe him an Apology for your comment.
If you and others feel that your right then its time for me to leave this board.
Have a nice life
Well Hell,
Then lets just ground the following then the Red Arrows, Snow Birds , Thunder Birds and the Blue Angles because they all fly to close. While we are on this mindless crap lets get rid of the BoB flight the Heritage and Tail Hock flights hey better yet lets just have straight and level flights at Airshows. Is that what you all want?
I guess most of you don’t fly airshows so for those of you who don’t No how its done here in the States we have a FAA Safty guy right at the runway making sure things are safe. But I guess you all missed that part of my post also.
Anyway before this gets out of hand the FAA did’nt have a problem Dan have more then anothe room and thats the end of it.
Hey Guys,
Are you all missing what I posted the FAA DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DAN SHOW. IF they had they would have ordered him down end of the subject so lets move on. 😡
Hi Mark,
I’m going to be seeing Dan over the weekend if I think its a good subject I’ll ask him what happen but, you and I know if the FAA thought Dan was being reckless then they would have stop the show. I seen the FAA stop a few show in the past.
I remember a guy who was a fair-weather Mainer who owned a Vampire well he scrap the bellie on take off and I happen to be standing next to the FAA safty guy who radio him to check if he could get the gear down and to return to the airport. Were after talking with him he di’nt comp for the dense air and was use to sucking the gear at a surtain position after take off.
They sent him over to spend a few days with Ed Stead and get some time with him in his vampirer.
First,
Please everyone go back and watch the video again closly you will notice that it appears that Dan hit a Micro- Burst, causing the drop, If you listen to the video there is NO I repeat NO change of engine sound.
As for the FAA I’m sure they had a talk with Dan and probley had a better look at the display then the video is showing. Besides if the FAA thought Dan was performing recklessly then they would have stopped the show right then and their.
Hi All,
First I know the pilot and he is a friend and, The pilot names is Dan McQeu and he is from York Maine.
Now for what I saw on the video it appears that Dan came out of the loop to high. He has been flying this performance for 20 years. Starting in with a NA-50 moving to a Yak-11, to the L-39 which he still does fly.
I think its safe to say that we should give Dan alittle le-way.
BoB after the 109s arrive at Duxford May 14 1968 just after the 16 of the 17 109 and 1 of the 2 111 landed.
Theirs a great descibtion of their arrivial in The Battle of Britain the making of a film By Leonard Mosley.
Hi All,
I saw another view of the crash today, and first there is No skid marks behind the Tail Wheel, so this rules out any Tail Wheel shear pin letting go also the plane just flops down like someone grabbed the wrong switch.
Theirs alot more damage then you can see from outside, when the Beely turret breachs a B-17 the whole fus. is twisted, also the Nose Turret pushed up to just under the Bomb Aimers seat.
The Engine Nacells took the brunt of the hit. If anyone wants to lok at photos go over to the Warbird Resource Groups Forum their are up to date photos their.
The latest word I heard is three Months before she’ll even be ready for a Ferrie Flight.
When the gear fold-up into the wheel-wells the bolts shear, This item is required to be check ever 100 landings.
If you look at the video again please note the gear flod back just like they do when they are retracted.
