If you go for a GT make sure it is complete! Lots of people by GT’s and although it looks alright they later find it is missing many difficult/impossible to find components and is useless. The Stad is nice but it is absolutely massive and theres not a great deal that can be done with it once you’ve got it. Personally I love eastern block and Russian Engines!

    The Blond knight of Germany

    The first and the last

    The Final hours

    Rocket fighter

Stuka pilot (Unlike a lot of pilots Rudel is very pro nazi and political, the book however is still interesting and worth reading)

So what is it that makes some films and series engaging and involving while others don’t? Just for reference a film/series I think is involving and makes you feel like your there would be das boot. Is it just the level of accuracy and budget?

oh yes, I liked the fact they got Wellums actor up in the air and shot some cockpit footage, that was great to see rather than the usual CGI, should have done a few aeros with him and he’d soon be looking like a real BoB pilot sweating away, he looked a little too fresh for being in battle!

I thought it was good and was pleased to see the extra BOB footage, I also thought the interspersing of Geoff Wellums thoughts throughout was very good, pleased to see the story brought to a wider audience!
I didn’t however feel drawn into the story, you build up your own mental picture of what something would be like from accounts and your own knowledge and when something doesnt fit that picture to the same level of detail as you have in your mind it’s a little dissapointing. I’m not totally convinced of the requirment of every good story to be made into a film or series either especially when one is so vivid and well written already.
I also found the scenes to be a bit sparse and staged, for example the scene after the patrol when Kingcome is ‘lost’ seemed a bit too hollow and staged for me; but these are just my own views and thoughts!
Congratulations to them though for doing an admirable job!

Sadly that video is a poor fake, however there is a video on YouTube of a guy landing a quarter scale (or similar) model when it loses a wing, he knife edges it all the way in, real skill not cgi!

Amazing set of photos, congratulations on them. I am very pleased to hear the pilot is relatively ok considering the circumstances. Watching the video is very interesting, there is no doubt he is in an extreme hurry to get down. Wonder what the reason he needed to land so quickly was, pilot incapacitation, control issues or noticed an impending emergency?

Anybody know what chuntered over Brize at 20:04 at about 4000 feet heading north East? Was along way away but looked single engine low wing and was growling along.

Thanks Pagen, what I mean is I haven’t seen one for sale or in a collection, internally I suppose it has the same action as an air raid siren with a rotor and stators?

This guys youtube channel is strangely watchable!!
