GO4B17 you’re misinformed. The crew of Aluminum Overcast did not retract the gear on the ground. The airplane has squat switches that prevent this. The gear collapsed because it was not fully extended. This can be seen clearly on a video of the incident filmed from ground level. The entire weight of the aircraft was placed on the two gear extension jackscrews (rather than the main undercarriage) which snapped after landing.

Really now then how come AO was on roll out then, the last time I was inside a 17 when you were on roll out the gear was down. And yes I’ve seen the video and the plane settles rather quickly which means the gear switch was pulled if the jack screws had let go then it would have been a slower let down instead of the quick drop.

We can sit here and debate this all day long but the video from both the ground and from the air clearly show that AO settle quickly. These things happen its the one bad design of the 17 cockpit was where the gear levers and flap levers are placed. That is why most 17 operators have moved the Gear switchs to the top panels.

And did the US declare war on Afghanistan, or was it all rather similar to that performed by Japan on Pearl Harbour? Turn the question around and ask yourself whether America “has declared an open war on an Islamic country” – or any other country (other than Iraq) for that matter.

Yes there was a bill signed declaring war on Al Quida folks and the Taliban. As for any other Countrys none that I’m aware of but when and if we capture SOLDIERS from other Countrys wearing Uniforms we treat them accourding to the Convention. Hell the International Red Cross doesn’t even consider Al Quida or any Terrorist group as combat troups.

End of subject what Islamic Country has declared an open War with the United States of America lat time I look none.

If these fine outstanding citizens where true SOLDIERS then why not go to some Islamic Coutry and become a Citizen and trhen join that countrys Military and then they would be a True SOLDIER.
