Mr.Allen only has the E model for now and I need to update my last post. They hope to have first flight in 05.
As I stated it the plane was far from being complete. I remmeber the Bomb Bay area lacking all internial items and the Radio rom with nothing in it.
There is some talk that Mr.Allen is looking for another B-17 and a B-24 to had to his collection.
I think he might be alittle envey of Kermit 🙂
Hi All,
Mr Allens B-17 is in storage pending its turn at the restoration shop. When the Whinington Brothers sold it to him it had only been wash out and repaired to make it airworthy. Mr.Allen has most of the items to rebuild it.
I have some photos of it when it was in florida and I can tell you even after they washed and clean the inside it still had a funk to it.
The last thing I heard was it was slated to head to the shop sometime in 05.
Cheers
Hi F-100F,
May I suggest that you leave a post over on the Warbird Resource groups forum and leave a post on your on-going restoration project.
Their is at least two wixs memebers who have access to century aircraft parts.
Cheers Crazymainer
DazDaMan,
I have conflicting storys on how why and when Connie got the planes. This is one of the things I hope to clear up this Fall when I head down to headquaters.
Dave,
As a lmemeber of the CAF, the name change came along because we got alot of PC type people that are at headquaters. So they decide to change the name by letting us all vote on it, but heres the Kicker the old name wasn’t one of the chooses. It seems certain groups didn’t get it(IE Jessie Jackson) but hell the Tuskege Airman Assc. had NO problem with it.
And for the record I did a write in, only 10% of the CAF memebership turn in votes.
Hi All,
Lets me clear somethings about the Air tankers all Fix Wing Fire Bombers that had United States Forest Department contracts have been ground, This includes all C-130A,B,C P-3A,B C-54 DC-7 P2V-5,7 S-2.
As for perserve 130A there is one at Pima another is at SAC Museum Also I think there is at least two or three others. The SAC Musuem one might be the only Snub nose one thought.
Hi Septic,
When the BoB movie was over Connie and the CAF bought the Buchons they got five of them while Connie keep the rest.
I’m working on a book on the early warbird collectors and have been researching Connie and the early days of the CAF.
Hey AVM,
The CAF had more than 4 Buchons, I’ll contact me friends at Midland for you on Friday and I’ll send you a pm.
Or you can check in with me either thru are normal board or send me a personal e-mail.
Cheers The Col.
Dave,
If you go over to the Screen Actors Gill web site and punch up your request, they will send you a long list.
Cheers
Eddie,
Les Duponts FM-2 looks clean for once or was that because of the Rain 😀
Hey Guys,
The Best Fighter, you all are missing something here its the Guy in the plane that makes it the Best.
Hartman flew 109 even thou we’ll agree that the 190 was better
Pappy flew Corsairs and yes The Black Sheep were going to be converted to Hellcats but Pappy and Foss talked the USMC out of it.
Garbiski flew P-47
So we can all say this one or that one was better but its what the Pilot did that makes it Great.
Dan,
Jere Here, this is just a real Stupid thread that should 1 Never been sugest 2 Should be discounted
Cheers CrazyMainer
Hey Guys,
Do you really want to start this thread if so then I’ll be more than happy to point out all sorts of stuff. But before we start this WAR I’ll give you a chance to call it off.
Jets they are for Kids 😀
But seroiuslly over here in Sate of Maine were the first USAF Jet Squadron were station we take to the early jets like fish to water. The State of Maine is litter with F-84,F-86 and F-101 crash sites and you would be suprise how much wreckage is left from these Flame Burners.
But I do think that we are all like the WWII planes a tad more than Jets. As for WWI I think speaking of my age group they seem to be to fragile.
OK,
BLOODY HELL what do I have to do come over to your side of the pond and Smack You All on the side of the Head. 😡
If this program gets ONE CHILD interested then its done its job. Thats who we need to be reaching with programs like this. Remember its them who are going TO CARE ON FOR US, so we must do everything that we can do to promote ahows like this. And YES we need to help them with the minor problems but to rip them apart gets us NO WERE, We need the Press to Be are friends, Hell when we lose a plane and pilot its the Press who is leading the Charge to have them ground.
So everyone like I said stop th BLOODT BICKERING and lets praise this program for opening eyes.
