Is that the one that landed in a cabbage patch?
Ploughed field actually !, it was with the London UAS, then briefly with 6 AEF
Here’s the only one I know I flew in, WZ873 from White Waltham, I lost my ‘log book’ so have lost the ID’s of all the others I flew in from White Waltham, Abingdon, Lindholm, Thorny Island, Colltishall, valley, Hullavington, ’72-’79
Pic is fro the Daily Mirror.
If there is any interest

Do you really have to ask ? I think you already know the answer don’t you ! just keep them coming please.
Pic No. 3. that must have been an awesome sight hovering/flying
PS. I was in west Aylesbury yesterday, just of the A41 & saw a Tesco’s, is that where Unimetals (?) was, backing onto the Railway ?

theres a pic of her from last Aug. on an old thread.
Pic. of XL502 on old thread
……XL502 currently in store at Sandtoft in Lincolnshire.
Ummmmm… ‘in store’ is that a polite way of saying ‘sitting out in the open uncared for & slowly becoming derelict ‘ ?

So how does the ignore list work then ? if you have somebody on your ignore list, are they then deleted from your viewing if they contribute to a thread ? eg. I would have not seen anything from wrenchbuilder if he was on my ignore list in the ‘rebuild’ thread ?

There is an IPMS (international plastic modellers society) UK group that specialises in racing aircraft, its called ‘Bent Throttles’ , I came across them when looking for info on Reno warbird racers

Blackbush used to be a lot bigger than it is today, the main runway was aprox 25% longer, my parents flew out of Blackbush in ’57 to go on holiday to Austria, it was on a Viking of Eagle Airways as in the previous pic. so I would guess that there were regular civie passenger flights.

Have a look at the ServicePals.com site , there are several good shots of NX611 ‘Just Jane’ staging through Butterworth & Akrotiri on her return to the UK in ’65 + other maybe unkown Lancaster pics.

Air Britain …., anything to do with the Hornet Book ?
I very much hope another font of much knowledge on this wonderful Forum
Welcome again 🙂
I don’t know, but it looks very Concorde-ish ?
there were racks of new/overhauled Seafury outer wings still in their transit packing at Staravia.
In the late ’70’s I only saw 1 pr of new SeaFury wings at the Ascot yard & 1 pr of Vampire (I assume T10 as allover silver) wings. I must have missed the ‘best’ years !

Yes I forgot about that one, somebody mentioned the Church Crookham one the other day which is one I’d never heard of before.I only found out a few years ago that my Grandfather (he died in ’70) was a friend of the owner of Staravia, if only we knew then what we know now !

The Staravia yard at Ascot was a proper ‘spares reclamation yard’ rather than just a ‘scrap yard’.They had 2 more yards (storage) yards, Finchampstead (10 miles from Ascot) & one in Wales. The aircraft were stripped of all things reusable, they held huge stores of new & used parts packed away in tea chests in ware houses. Hunters & Canberra’s were the main through put in the ’70s when I used to visit. My dad said that he had seen F-86’s in there earlier when passing on the train which ran on the northern edge of the yard(moved from Lasham ?). I have slides somewhere, I will have to dig them out & try & scan them wont I !
